When Alphys arrived, followed shortly by Undyne, Papyrus, and Sans, Frisk was still curled up in a ball of her own night terror. Toriel's face was streaked with tears, helpless as she sat on the ground, holding her child in her arms. Despite the tears, her voice was strong.

"Alphys, please. Do whatever you can..." She instructed. Slight panic crossed the nervous scientist's eyes, but she set her jaw and nodded.

"Undyne, take Frisk to her bed. Papyrus, get me a wet cloth and any medical supplies you can find. Toriel, call the governor and please ask to reschedule tomorrow's meeting." She instructed. Everyone did as they were told, leaving Sans and Alphys alone in the room. The skeleton turned to her.

"Alphys...you don't think that...?" He didn't need to finish his sentence. Alphys sighed.

"I don't know. It's hard to say without a proper examination. You said she had been having nightmares, right?" She recalled, the situation demanding her confidence and calm attitude. Sans nodded and Alphys pursed her lips.

"Hmm... Alright, come on. Let's see if we can get a response out of her." She continued, leading the way into Frisk's room. Undyne was crouched beside her bed, worry etched on her face.

"Undyne, could you please step out?" Alphys requested. Undyne got to her feet.

"He's staying, why can't I?" She inquired, gesturing to Sans. She wanted to do something to help, but....

"Undyne, please." Alphys insisted. Undyne sighed and nodded, leaving the room with a look over her shoulder that was filled with too many emotions to count. Sans shut the door and Alphys' calm façade shattered. She raced forward, checking Frisk's pulse before putting a hand to her forehead.

"She seems to have a fever." She reported. Papyrus wanted to come in the room, but Sans managed to convince him to stay with Toriel and Undyne, taking the medicine and wet cloth from him with a thanks. Then he shut the door. Sans handed the supplies to Alphys, who gently laid the cloth over Frisk's forehead and eyes. The girl was still trembling, muttering things under her breath, but when the warm cloth covered her eyes, her fists unclenched and her body relaxed.

"Frisk, can you hear me?" Alphys called softly. The child didn't respond. Alphys pursed her lips and looked at Sans.

"Oh no...no no no..." He responded to her unasked question. Alphys gave him a desperate look.

"You don't have to scare her, you just have to talk to her. Your voice might trigger something." She pointed out.

"Yeah, something bad." He countered loudly. Frisk stirred slightly and the two looked at her. Alphys raised an eyebrow at Sans and the skeleton sighed again.

"Alright..." He grumbled, walking past Alphys to crouch beside Frisk. "Do I have to say anything in particular?" He wondered, glancing over his shoulder at Alphys. The scientist shrugged. Sans sighed and looked back at Frisk.

"Uh, hey, kiddo. I don't, uh, don't know if you can hear me, but..." He trailed off for a moment, watching as Frisk's eyebrows furrowed slightly in her sleep. "You've got to wake up, Frisk. Everyone's worried about you. We don't know what's wrong with you, but if you wake up and tell us, we can help." Nothing. Sans sighed, looking out the window. The sun was shining through, illuminating a section of Frisk's flower patterned carpet in the middle of her hardwood floor. The skeleton smiled slightly, brushing Frisk's hair out her face.

"Come on, kiddo. Get up. You shouldn't be in here. It's a beautiful day outside." Sans encouraged her.

"Please, no!" Frisk screamed, moving so quickly that it made Sans and Alphys both stumble backwards. She was sitting up now, her back pressed against the wall, trembling uncontrollably. Guilt pierced Sans' chest. He hadn't even realized... On days like these, kids like you...
