Flowey nervously waited outside, looking left and right and behind him every few moments, paranoid that someone might see him, while Toriel went inside to fetch Frisk. You aren't here because you care, Flowey, so...why are you here? He thought to himself. A part of him knew the answer... But is it for the power or for the nightmares? Flowey shuddered slightly, shrinking into the shadows. Frisk isn't Chara... If she dies, she can just come back... He pointed out to himself. Inside, Toriel was in Frisk's room. The motherly goat gently shook her arm.
"Frisk, my child, wake up." She called softly. Frisk's eyes fluttered open, her eyebrows furrowed. She smiled slightly when she saw her mom. "There's someone here to see you." She told her. Frisk's eyes searched the room, looking for someone. Toriel shook her head and held out a hand to help the child up.
"No no, not here. Outside, in the garden." Frisk's eyes widened slightly as she stood up. Toriel helped her stay steady as she walked. They made their way to the front garden, looking around to find where the flower had gone. He was hiding in the corner, between the porch and the side of the house. When Frisk found him, she gasped slightly. She had assumed that that's who it was, but...she hadn't expected to see him. The flower hardened its gaze and scowled at her, but disappeared then reappeared at the bottom of the porch steps. Frisk carefully made her way to the last step and sat down. Toriel hovered above her, worried, but the child gave her a confident smile.
"It's okay, Mom, you can go inside. I'll be alright." She told her. The mother goat seemed to be debating the safety, but then she sighed and nodded, smiling warmly at her child.
"Of course, Frisk. I'll be inside if you need me." Then she entered the house and shut the door. Frisk and Flowey sat there for a while, neither saying a word.
"When are you going to reset?" Flowey asked finally. Frisk shook her head.
"Never. I might save and reload if something goes terribly wrong, but...I'll never reset." She replied firmly. Flowey frowned.
"That's cheating. You can't only use some of your powers. It's all or nothing." He complained. Frisk furrowed her eyebrows.
"Asriel, did you come here to reprimand my choices, or did you want something else?" She inquired. Flowey scowled at her again.
"Don't call me that. Especially not here..." He growled, his eyes darting to Toriel, who was pretending to be washing the dishes, but was instead watching the two of them. Frisk glanced over at her too before looking back at the flower.
"Why did you come out of the underground?" She asked again. Flowey sighed, annoyance flitting across his face.
"Look, I don't know, okay? Does that make you happy? I heard you were sick, and...I came. I don't know wether it was out of the hope you'd die and I'd get to have your soul," his face contorted in malice with a short laugh, then relaxed into a face of slight confusion, "or if it's because of how much you remind me of Chara..." He trailed off, seeming disturbed by the thought that he was showing any emotion towards the child other than hatred and anger. Frisk thought for a moment.
"Well, whatever the reason may be, I'm going to be fine, and...I'm glad you came." She told him with a warm smile. The flower recoiled, a disgusted look on his face.
"Don't be." He snarled. His eyes drifted to Toriel again, then back to Frisk. "If it weren't for her, I would have already taken advantage of your weakened state and ripped your soul from your body." He laughed coldly, but Frisk just smiled again.
"If it makes you happy to think so." She agreed. Flowey tensed in anger, then sighed dejectedly, his face returning to normal.
"Chara, you should go back, this place is fine the way it is." Frisk furrowed her eyebrows.
"Sorry, what did you say?" She wondered. Irritation grew on the flower's face.
"I said, quit making that creepy face..." Frisk's heart started to quicken.
"H-Huh? What creepy face?" She asked, her head beginning to swim. Flowey furrowed his eyebrows.
"Uh, nobody said anything about a creepy face. Frisk, maybe you should go inside. You don't look too good." He suggested. Frisk shook her head, despite her nauseas feeling.
"No, I-I'm fine..." She lied. Flowey opened his mouth to say something and a different scene flickered in front of Frisk. Flowey was cowering, terrified, on the pathway to the king's castle underground.
"How many times are you going to come back to scare me like this? You've got a sick sense of humor! Making me trust you again, then this?"
"Frisk!" Flowey snarled, more confused and worried than actually angry. The child blinked and seemed to be trying to look at him through thick smoke. Her eyes were glazed and confused. She needed help. Flowey was tempted to just leave her, but Asriel was too stubborn for that. He didn't call out, though. He didn't want Toriel coming out here, and she had already gone away from the widow, no longer able to see the two. Luckily, Sans happened to be coming by the house to check up on Frisk when he saw the flower and the child's worsening condition. He immediately came over, suspicion in his eyes.
"Hey, kiddo, you alright?" He asked Frisk, ignoring Flowey for the moment. Frisk's eyes turned to him, unseeing and confused.
"You've been busy..." Frisk flinched away from Sans, the image before her flickering and changing to the one from her nightmares. Flowey and Sans both took a step back when the girl's image altered slightly. Her hair flickered a shade lighter, her skin tone lightening slightly as well, her cheeks warming with a pink tint, her brown eyes flashing red.
"Chara?" Flowey whispered, his voice mixed with surprise, slight excitement, but also a hint of fear. Sans narrowed his eyes but then Frisk's image returned for a moment. Her eyes were filled with confused concern.
"What's...happening to me...?" She wondered, worried. Her voice sounded distant, as if she was talking to them from the other end of a tunnel. Her image flickered back to Chara's whose face was filled with the same concern and confusion. The child passed out, her red eyes closing slowly as she fell back onto the steps. Sans and Flowey stared at her for a moment, trying to understand what had happened. The skeleton huffed and leaned down to pick her up.
"What are you doing?! Don't you know who that is?" Flowey hissed. Sans shot him a glare, his one blue eye flickering with blue flames. The flower shrank back, remembering all too well what Sans was capable of.
"As far as you and everyone else are concerned, this is Frisk." The skeleton growled. Flowey smirked evilly.
"But it's not. Soon enough, she'll wake up, and she'll kill you all. This world will be reduced to nothing but a pile of dust and corpses." His maniacally laugh was cut short when he felt himself being lifted in the air. Not much, but enough to get the point across.
"She'll kill you too, you know." Sans pointed out. The flower just narrowed his eyes, not saying anything else. Sans let the flower drop and picked Chara up with surprisingly gentle arms. The child stirred, her eyes opening slightly in confusion at the scene around her. Fear filled her when she saw the face of her enemy, only the skeleton didn't do anything but carry her into the house.
"Keep your eyes closed." He hissed quietly. Though she didn't know why, she obliged, and let her eyes slip closed again...
"W-What...? Sans? What's going on?"
"What, so this is your new tactic? You kill my friends hundreds of times, you torture me with pointless fight after useless battle, and now you're going to antagonize me by pretending to be my friend? Alright, fine. Have it your way. But you're about to have an awful time..."
