"Ca...ta..n... Cap...tain... wa..ke...p..."

The voices were so distant that Tetra was perfectly inclined to ignore them as she clung to the dark embrace of unconsciousness.

"Pl...ase... Tetr...a..."

Tetra grumbled and turned her head to the side as she groaned, "go...way..."

"Captain!"

She opened her eyes angrily and sat up, only to fall back with a harsh gasp.

"Stay down Tetra," Impa warned.

She groaned and a tear slipped through and trailed down her face. "What happened after I fainted?" she demanded.

"Everything was accounted for. Armos survived... But three of our crew died. All the pirates on the other side were eliminated."

"Good...that's good... Did you..."

"Yes. The three were given the proper send-off."

"...good," Tetra repeated. "And I trust you... destroyed..."

"... We did." Impa folded her arms. "You lost a lot of blood but you should be okay."

"Okay? Okay? How am I supposed to explain this to-" she growled in pain and forced herself to relax. "It was hard enough the first time... But if they see this then they might never let me leave again. Ever."

Impa bit her lip but then shrugged. "We'll just have to see... won't we," she said. Then she sighed. "Link wants to see you."

Tetra frowned. Link, she had completely forgotten about him. "I'll see him."

Impa left her quarters to look for him, and after five minutes she returned.

"You may go," Tetra said.

Impa dipped her head and closed the door after Link.

"What do you want?" she asked.

Link was silent as he looked at her. His eyes drifted to her side, and then up to her bandaged hand laying on top of her blankets. "I have a lot of questions."

"So?"

"I thought you might be able to answer some of them."

"Ask then," she spat.

He blinked a few times but continued anyway. "Why did you torch the boat?"

"Because it's a bad ship," she replied.

"Why kill everyone?"

"We're pirates, it's what we do."

"What was with that showdown? I couldn't hear what you two were saying, though I did get the gist from the crew."

Tetra scowled. A crew of little blabbering fools. "It's none of your concern."

"I'm curious, and I'd like to hear the truth, not some rumor."

"Are there rumors stowing away on my ship?"

"Yes, Ma'am."

"Captian," she snapped.

"Yes, Captain," he amended.

"What rumors?"

"What truth?"

Tetra glared at him. "It's personal, and I keep personal things to myself. You think I'd reveal something personal to a stranger?"

"No, Captain," he replied, lowering his gaze, then it snapped back up. "Could you at least-"

"No."

He continued anyway. "-tell me when we will arrive at Farren..."

"Oh... well, two weeks," she said.

Link nodded and then turned away. "Tetra?"

"Captain," she corrected again. "What."

There was a hesitation and then he shook his head. "Thanks for letting me watch."

The color that was left in her face drained away. She had not yet pieced together what him watching could have meant. Did he... Had he seen... "You watched the whole skirmish with Lynel?"

"Yes."

"Did you see... "

He raised an eyebrow. "See what?" he responded before turning his back to her and exiting the cabin.

She watched him go, her heart beating fast. From the tone of his voice, there was little doubt that he had seen her blow Lynel back into the ratlines while nobody else was looking. But from his words... He didn't plan on sharing what he'd seen.

All the better for him, because if he did... she would kill him too.
