38. RIP THE BAND-AID OFF
Wednesday Evening
Aiden's mansion was eerily quiet this evening.
It was probably because today wasn't like any other day that was usually filled with a shitload of drama typically centered around the most elusive troublemaker Aiden's ever had to deal with - Clarissa Bollinger.
For obvious reasons, she's been the center of attention for a while; causing ninety percent of Aiden and Julian's time to almost always be spent trying to figure out ways to capture the mentally and emotionally unstable woman.
However, today, there were more important things on the agenda to deal with and none of them involved Aiden's crazy, scorned ex.
Today, Clarissa Bollinger ceased to exist.
Today was all about Aiden and Julian.
Today was unlike any other day because today would be the day that Aiden would finally let his guard down and live his truth by revealing his biggest secret – a secret that he's been holding in for far too long – to his family.
He'll finally tell them the truth about who he is, and what his bodyguard, Julian McAndrew, actually means to him.
Aiden will, hopefully, be rid of one of his biggest burdens and Julian will officially be able to ditch the damning title of being Aiden's dirty little secret.
"Can I ask you something that might be a little out of the ordinary?" Aiden, trying to keep himself distracted, looked at Julian and asked, "How's Lance doing?"
Julian nearly choked on the piece of candy he'd been eating. "Lance?"
"Yeah. Do you know if he's having any trouble putting his grandmother to rest?" Aiden asked. "I only ask because I was thinking back on how stupid I acted when all that shit went down between us and I'd really like to make it up to you and to him by helping him out in some way."
Julian was taken aback by Aiden mentioning Lance's name without looking like he wanted to vomit.
He was shocked that Aiden even had Lance on the brain, let alone his sudden, random and completely out of the blue desire to want to help out with any funeral expenses.
"We've texted each other a few times since then. He said he's holding up as best as he can," Julian replied, still sporting a confused look as he tried to figure out where Aiden was going with all this and why. "He also told me that he won't be having a service for her. He got her cremated. As far as I know, he's good financially. "
"Oh, okay," Aiden whispered, feeling sympathetic towards Lance for the first time since ever. "Still, poor guy."
Julian walked away from the window he'd been looking out of and went climbing on the bed beside Aiden, eyeing him heavily.
