-Chapter 15-

Weeks had passed ---- three weeks, if I had not been mistaken. Each day passed long and agonizing in a way that caused nothing but great sadness to me. It was sadness so strong that I had grown lifeless. I no longer spoke much, not even to Stefani and Bianca. My life became one routine repeated over and over; I woke up, attended school, and then returned into slumber. I had not seen Drew quite often, yet when I had, I would catch his gaze fixed upon me. I paid no attention to it whatsoever.

“Alice, honey, we are bringing Amy to the doctor. Do call if you need anything, alright?” my mother announced from my bedroom door.  Amy had been released from the hospital about a week ago ---- though I was not certain if it had been indeed only a week ago.  Amy finally coming home had brought to me a huge amount of joy --- enough for me to have temporarily forgotten about Drew; although it only lasted for a few days and before I had known it, I was a lifeless being once more. And despite being released from the hospital, Amy still had to visit the hospital during days scheduled as she was not well enough as of the moment and must be monitored by her doctor until she was in good condition once more.

I nodded, not bothered to speak. I continued to stare at nothing until my mother decided to leave me be. My thoughts were as empty as it had always been now. I honestly hadn’t the slightest idea as to what had brought about my sudden change of behaviour, although a small part of me knew it was because of Drew.

As I returned home that night I abandoned Drew by the meadow, I wept; partly due to self-pity, and partly because I was certain that no matter how much I had cared for Drew that I could never be with him. I wept until I could no longer do so; I wept until my eyes grew red and puffed. The next morning I expected to feel heartbreak but no, I had not felt heartbreak at all. In fact, I had felt nothing. I was empty, and continued to feel so to this day.

Just then, I felt a familiar, sickening feeling arise from my stomach. Not again.  I groaned, rushing towards the bathroom without hesitation. I gripped the sink with much force, my knuckles growing paler ---if that had even been possible--- at the force I exerted.  I vomited then, and all the while my throat felt as though it was on fire. As soon as the vomiting seized, I splashed my face with water, breathing deeply and staring at my emotionless face reflected upon the mirror. The bags under my eyes seemed to grow darker as days passed, and my cheekbones had become much sharper. I was losing weight rapidly, I was certain yet I had not cared. I knew that my condition was growing worse by the minute as I refused to eat so much as three spoonfuls. And due to this, I experienced greater stomach pains, threw up more often, and grew thinner and thinner. Death was approaching, and I could not be bothered to care any longer.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I flinched, startled greatly by the sound. I turned towards it, my gaze fixed upon my phone as the screen lit up. Someone had been calling. Mother, I had guessed.  I headed towards my phone in no hurry, and as I was able to take hold of it, I felt confusion dawn upon me immediately. Unknown number, the screen read. I did not know whether or not to answer it, but after a moment’s hesitation, finally decided upon answering. “Hello?” my voice slightly quivering.

“Where is he?” the voice asked. It had been familiar, yet I could not recall where I had heard it. It was the voice of a man ---- thick, raspy, and frightening to say the least. I thought long and hard, but to my great disappointment, my mind was unable to remember having heard the man’s voice before.

After a moment, I finally responded. “What?”

“I said where the fuck is he?” the voice demanded, much louder this time.
