-Chapter 2-

I walked towards my closet with tremendous amount of caution. I grabbed an oversized hoodie and slipped on some sneakers. I fumbled for my pain medication and shoved them inside my pockets in great haste. I made my way towards the bathroom to wash my tear-streaked face. I grabbed my pair of house keys and made absolutely certain that my door had been locked before quietly slipping out my window.

---------

It was a rather cold evening. There were no stars visible nor could I spot the moon, though I was outside. The flashing lights had been everywhere, so I was able to see quite well. I was unable to stop myself from shuddering, as I felt the cold air against my bare face. I crossed my arms, attempting to keep warm as the cold wind penetrated through my hooded jacket. I sighed, knowing there was nothing I could do about it.

The cold was not to be escaped.

-----------

I managed to maintain a low profile, making certain I had not attracted any attention to myself. I kept my hood up, never daring to meet anyone's gaze. I kept my gaze focused onto the ground below me and attempted to walk in pace with everyone and stayed behind large crowds.

Wherever I had planned to head towards, I had not known. Neither had I even known for how long I would keep this up. But what I did know was I needed to get the hell away from my house.

----------

A few minutes had gone by before I felt a familiar jolt of pain coming from my stomach. It sent me stumbling backwards, causing me to hit several. I quickly murmured an apology before stepping away. "Shit," I muttered under my breath, as I slipped into a narrow alley.

It was dark and rather empty, from what I had been able to see. I tried to squint my eyes, focusing them on the sight before me. I searched the whole area, hoping I was alone. Fortunately, there was no one in sight, and it was absolutely silent.

Well, in the alley it certainly was.

Outside the alley was a whole different story.

I searched for my pain killers and swallowed them with haste. I mentally cursed at myself for having forgetten to bring a bottle of water. I involuntarily cringed from the Morphine's taste, but quickly willed myself to get over it.

"You on drugs or something?" I heard a voice ask, not far from where I was.

I jerked my head up in astonishment, surprised that someone had been here. I took a step back, seeing someone approaching quickly. I was not able make out the features as the alley had been dark, though I was certain it was a girl from the person's voice.

She snorted in a loud manner, crossing her arms against her chest. "Don't worry, I won't tell on you," she assured me with great sarcasm.

My eyes widened in disbelief. Did she honesty say drugs? Me, fooling around with what would only result to the shortening of my dear life? It was quite tempting if I had been honest with myself, but no. I burst out in laughter, unable able to hold it back. I clutched my stomach from the pain it had caused. The thought of me being on drugs was definitely amusing.

She cocked an eyebrow, apparently thinking I was insane.

I smirked. " Me? On drugs? Hardly," I spat in an unkindly manner, before walking away. I had not gone far when I felt another jolt of pain coming from my stomach. I lost my quickly balance to my great embarassment, falling onto my butt.
