Okay, before we start here's a quick recap.

-This chapter starts two weeks before the rebellion.

-Eloise and Marius left Enjolras' apartment a few weeks after the previous chapter and Eloise and Enjolras began 'dating' (did they call it that in post-revolution France?)

-This chapter takes place almost a year after this one.

-A few weeks before this chapter Eloise begins to live with Enjolras.

Sorry for my lack of updates lovelies, I've been super ill but I'm better now so I'm carrying on with the challenge.

2 Weeks Before the Rebellion

The girl edged carefully along the winding street, watching as the evening sun glistened in the puddles on the cobbled floor. It was because of this water that her shoes were thoroughly sodden and squelched each time her foot was put to the ground. Her hair was just as damp as her shoes and her clothes were unbearably drenched. Rain did not suit her well and as she walked she only prayed that Enjolras had lit the fire whilst she had been gone, getting warm was now a necessity and she couldn’t afford to be ill.

Living together had been a challenge for the young couple but one that they were willing to face. Eloise ironed out Enjolras’ faults and he did the same for her. However in the few weeks they had been living under the same roof the challenges of day to day life had become toilful. This was because of one reason in particular, Enjolras’ involvement in the revolution.

For Eloise she saw the endless meetings in the café as nothing more than watching her love plan is own death. She couldn’t bear to see him throw his life away before it had barely begun. This was the centre of so many arguments.

Before every meeting Eloise would attempt to stop the young man from leaving, afraid that one day the plans that they made in the meeting would become reality. Whilst she loved Enjolras’ passion and undying love for his cause she couldn’t help but think that the uprising they were outlining would mean nothing to the rest of the world. To others he would just be another boy who idiotically believed he could change the world and failed. This caused Enjolras’ temper to flair and say things that he would later regret when the argument had died.

However, despite the more recent disagreements there were a great deal of advantages to the pair living together. Enjolras had learned how to reassure, love and care in ways that he never thought possible. The things that he felt had confused him in the beginning but now they were second nature. Eloise was learning how to trust the young leader, no matter how hard she found it. She was still mastering this art but every day she found letting him leave for these meetings became the tiniest bit easier.

The main reason for them residing under the same roof, however, was much simpler. They wanted as much time as possible together. Whilst neither party wanted to admit it, they had both thought about the inevitable. What if the uprising should fail? Subconsciously they both knew that this was the real and most significant reason, they loved each other far too much to let a minute go to waste. If Enjolras were to fall, he would fall with no regrets.

Reaching the wooden door of her home Eloise pushed it open gently. The girl breathed a muffled sigh of relief as she heard the raw of the fire and the unmistakable smell of soup that wafted through the apartment. However her tranquillity was abruptly replaced with confusion as she heard the evident sound of two men talking.
