Chapter two.

My room looked as if little girls had moved in. Keaton's collection was proudly over flowing his bed until I could put a few shelfs up for them. While Keaton had showered, I had taken it to myself to count them. One hundred.

"ALEX! COME MAKE COFFEE, IM TOO TIRED."

Groaning I got off my bed and headed into the kitchen. Kyle grinned to me, flashing his bleach white teeth. "What's with all the boxes?" He asked.

"Remember? I told you last night, Amanda's younger brother is moving in." Walking to our coffee machine, I changed the filter before adding water and coffee. The familiar spurting noises started as the black substance filled the glass beneath it.

"Why?"

"Because he was dealing with some problems with his roommate. Problems he couldn't take care of himself."

"What was his roommate Doing that was so bad?" Kyle lifted the jug of coffee up and poured himself a cup.

"His roommate is a homophobe and was beating him."

Kyle's eyes grew in anger. "That's bull. There's still homophobes around these days?"

I only nodded. The soft squeak of a door signaled Keaton was leaving the bathroom. I listened I his soft foot steps and looked to my bedroom door as he opened it. Stepping out, joy surged through me as he wore the shirt and boxers I gave him of mine.

He quietly padded over to my side looking at the kitchen in delight.

"Isn't that the shirt I gave you for Christmas?" Kyle frowns.

"Yes, it's too small for me anyway. On the way here his clothes got soaked and aren't done being washed and dried yet so I let him borrow a few of my clothes." I pushed the tag of the shirt inside it making Keaton look at me. I smiled to him, he smiled back.

"So you're Amanda's brother?" Kyle asked.

"Yes." Keaton replies softly.

"How are she and Madison doing?"

Keaton looks to Kyle. "Both are fine."

"How old are you Keaton? Last I saw you, you were a small teen. But that was in a picture Amanda showed me;" Kyle snaps his fingers. "That's right. You were thirteen. All smiley and cute."

Keaton flushes and looks at the floor. "I'm twenty now."

"They grow up so fast." Kyle fakes a tear running down his face. "Well, I'm hungry. How does Chinese sound?"

I look to Keaton as he wrinkles his nose in distaste. "Keaton, would you like to cook diner?"

"I would!" Keaton gives me the first real smile I've seen since he was younger. It warms my heart.

Kyle and I wonder into the living room to let Keaton to his cooking.

"He looks so sad." Kyle says.

Surprised, I look to him. "What do you mean?"

Kyle gives me a stare. "Look behind his eyes, there's nothing but a heartbreaking sadness there."

"I guess I've never looked."

Kyle plays with a empty candy wrapper from on the messy floor. "He'd be good for you, you know. You need to move forward from Justin."

"Honestly, I'm over him. I never think about him anymore."

"No, now you just think about that serial killer." Kyle's eyes became serious.
