Chapter Two

I laid on the hammock hanging between two huge pine trees. It was a super hot day and being in the shade felt amazing. And better than anything, no annoying cousins- yet. I tried not to worry about my day being ruined and instead focused on the sound of the wind through the trees. For some reason, it's very relaxing. It's just so calm and steady and it feels good too. It makes the forest seem alive, not just quiet and dead. I just wanted this to last forever. I didn't want to hear annoying cousins hollering at me or anything. But I did want to hear the screams of my adoring fans whenever I am famous.

"So peaceful isn't it?" A deep almost ghostly voice sounded in the wind.

I sat up and looked around, but there was no one else outside. I got chills down my spine and ran inside as fast as I could. When I got inside I felt a little calmer, but felt a weird feeling. The feeling you get when someone is watching you. After that, weird things just kept happening.

"Whoa it's so dark outside but there are no clouds!" I was watching a movie on the couch but looked outside when April notified that. I seriously shivered. It was black as night outside. I stood up slowly and walked over to April. We didn't say much, we just stared at the weird darkness outside. I felt that feeling of being watched again but this time stronger.

"Do you feel that we are being watched?" I asked, turning to April. She looked horrified.

"Yes. It's almost like there are ghosts watching us. Do you think this place is haunted?" She started looking around the room, horrified.

I let out a little laugh. "I doubt it. It's probably just a South Dakota thing, who knows."

"Hopefully." I could hear the fear in her voice.

"Why don't you go get your siblings. The more the merrier." I said starring out into the darkness.

"Don't be scared. It's safe." The voice sounded right behind me and I turned around. Nothing. That deep voice was here again. I wanted my mother.

Mother went to the grocery story in town so we were alone. Hope she gets back okay. April, Sage, and Milan ran down the stairs and up to the closest window. I just stared outside, frightened. Then my phone buzzed, making all of us jump.

"Sorry!" I pulled out my phone and saw it was a text from mom.

"Heading back! How you troopers holding up?" It made me relax a little to know mom was coming.

I saw her driving towards the cabin and right when she went in the darkness, it disappeared. Sage sighed with relief.

"Good. Creepy stuff is over." He ran back up the stairs to go play his games.

"Calm down. We won't hurt you." The voice was fading into a whisper as it was taken away with the darkness.

I laid in my bed and stared at the ceiling. I looked around the dark room, feeling strange again. I hoped the weird voice wouldn't come back tonight. Or ever. I decided to go onto YouTube to listen to music. I was listening to Centuries by Fall Out Boy and was bobbing my head to the beat.

"Remember me for centuries! Just one mistake! Is all it will take! Remember me for centuries!" I must have been singing too loud because Sage came in.

"Could you keep it down? We are trying to sleep." He had drowsiness on his face.

I nodded and sang quieter. I was listening to my music when it started going staticky. I pulled my earbuds out, thinking they were broken. But even unplugged it was staticky. I walked out into the hallway. I was walking over to Sage's and the twin's room when I heard a noise downstairs.

"Hello? Mom? Sage?" I said walking to the balcony to look downstairs. The was a dark figure in the living room.

The figure looked up at the balcony where I was. I was frightened to see glowing amber eyes. The figure then turned and ran out of the cabin. What the...My thoughts were wild with confusion. I decided to not bother Sage and I went to my room. Once inside, I laid down and closed my eyes. I soon fell into a deep sleep.

"Who are you?" I stood in front of the dark figure with the Amber eyes. It said nothing. Just looked at me.

"Why won't you leave me and my family alone?" I asked, getting impatient.

"We aren't trying to hurt you. Just... Curious.." The deep voice spilled from the figure as it answered my question. Curious?

I just stared into the glowing eyes as they got brighter and brighter. My vision went all white and I heard nothing.

I jolted awake. That was a dream? It felt so real! I shook my head to get the sleepiness from my mind. I didn't want to think about my dream too much and just walked to my window. I sighed when I saw it was pouring rain today. Great. Trapped inside with crazy cousins.

"You're finally awake! Your mom is setting up a treasure hunt downstairs so we have something to do!" Milan's happy tone rang through the air.

"Oh goodie..." I said miserably. Can't I just relax?!? Wasn't that the point of vacation?

I flopped down on the couch and flipped the TV on. I decided to watch Star Wars I and try to finish all the movies.

"Don't trust the little boy. He is evil." I said to the TV as I munched on Doritos.

I was half way through the movie when I had to pause it for the dumb treasure hunt. My mother gave us a map and sent us on our way. Dumbest thing about the map is you have to solve math problems to find the next clue- MATH PROBLEMS!

"Son of Hobo Joe this stinks" I murmured as I tried to solve the first problem.

"Why don't you say holy crap this stinks, it's just weird when you say those things." April was laughing and I smirked.

"Well what if saying holy crap is childish?" I replied.

"And saying son of Hobo Joe isn't?" I busted up, realizing how true that was.

I felt like I was getting along with my cousins today, maybe it was from what happened yesterday. Who knows. I am acting different too. I'm usually snotty but.. for some reason I'm not today. I blame the rain.

"Finally! I finally got all the dumb problems solved!" I jumped up and down, stopping immediately when I realized I was acting dumb.

"Lucky! I haven't even got to the fifth problem!" Milan was pouting at the table, trying to solve them.

~~~~~~~~
I finally found my treasure and I was so mad. It was a teddy bear. A Care Bear to be exact. I was a teenager and I got a Care Bear? I had quite the fun though. I tied a rope around the bear's leg and hung it from the balcony. I was in trouble from the twins though. I laughed so hard when they walked in and saw the bear. They literally screamed. Priceless.
"It's hilarious! You can't be mad at me, cmon!" I was laughing so hard, I was lucky I could talk at the moment.
"It is not funny! Why are you so mean!" April grabbed the rope and pulled the bear to 'safety'.
I rolled my eyes and walked away. I just wasn't in the mood to be happy anymore. Being happy wasn't like me so I went straight back to my normal self. Annoyed by everything and a total fan of Orlando Bloom.
Pictures of Orlando Bloom. I sat on my bed until dinner just fan girling over him.
