I laid in my bed and stared at the ceiling and let out a sigh. I pushed myself out of my bed and walked to the bathroom. My hair was all over the place and my eyes were filled with sleep. I turned my head to my clock to see it was 1:00 AM. I sighed and walked back into my bedroom. I sat down at my dark wooden desk and flipped my laptop on. I still remember when I was little when I went to the human world and stole the computer. I smiled at the thought as the loading screen came on.

Once it was loaded I went onto Msn.com to see what was happening in the human world. A new virus has infected cats all over the U.S and a man murdered a family. I never understood why humans killed other humans. It was one reason I didn't like humans. I kept scrolling through the news until I came to a picture of a crying family. The picture had big and bold words above it.

"Family trip ruined when girl disappears" I was curious about the article so I continued on reading.

"We were camping at a cabin in South Dakota. She was with her cousin exploring the forest on the day she disappeared. Her name is Poppy Buelic. She is 19 years old, please help us find her!" Said Mrs. Buelic.

I was staring at the words of Poppy's worried mother. I felt awful for taking away her daughter. But the  only other choice was either to kill her or wipe her memory. This was the best choice. She had to be one of us to remember her life before. I felt sadness stab at my stomach. Her family must feel like how I felt when I was taken from mother and father. The memory was fresh in my mind as I stared at the sad family.

"No! Mother! Why do I have to leave you and Father?!" My mother smiled weakly as tears streamed down her face. My father patted my back and tried to be strong.

I looked at them confused, not sure why I had to leave them.

"You were chosen by Master to be his apprentice. You have to be strong, son. Please do this for us." My mother said as she put her arms around me. I cried out as the Night Phoenix, John, took me away from my parents.

He tried to calm me but I couldn't stop my tears from streaming down my face. I was so sure I would never see mother or father ever again. The thought made me cry even harder. John rubbed my arm as we went through the glowing light of a portal.

I felt sadness in me as I remembered my mother's soft voice. I looked back to the words of Poppy's mother and sighed. I was reading the article when I heard an agonizing scream. I winced from the noise then ran from the room. I followed the cries and screams to the room it was coming from. Poppy's room. I burst through the door and she was covering her eyes with her hands. She was on the ground crying.

"What's the matter?" I said, crouching down next to her. She let out a whimper as she tried to open her eyes.

"My eyes are burning and I can't open them." She said under her tears. I sighed.

"It's just you getting your phantom eyes. Just relax. And don't open your eyes today. Period." I said sternly.

If she opened her eyes she could damage them and possibly go blind. Even a speck of dust could damage her eyes in the transformation. She nodded and cried more.

"Here let me help you." I gently grabbed her arm and helped her get in her bed.

"Thanks." She sniffed her nose and tears ran down her face.

"Breathe. Calm down I know it hurts but try to sleep." I said sitting at the end of her bed.

I stayed by her until she calmed down then I went to get Sanvi. I walked into her room and she sat up when I walked in.
