Nandini stood there with a pain in her heart. The surroundings were numb and she felt nothing except a deep disgust towards her brother. She gave up everything, hurt the person whom she loved the most for her brother and that same person is raising his hands, on her.
She looked back at Rishab and her eyes showed her anger, hatred and she spoke in a sharp tone," My brother died, the moment he slapped me. And now you are an unknown. I don't want to stay with some random person. I am leaving."
Nandini didn't cry and she went out of the hall and all the while Rishab stood there frozen at his step. He kept staring at the way from which Nandini had left.
After a few minutes Rishab heard the footsteps and Nandini passed by the room with her bag without even looking at him.
"Nandini don't you dare to walk out on me.", Rishab spoke following Nandini as she opened the door.
"If you cross the doorstep, you are going to loose your only family forever.", Rishab threatened.
"I had already lost my brother. I don't know who you are. Cause my brother loved me, but you don't. My brother would never hurt me even when he is drunk, but you did. I lost my brother long back. It just took me time to realize it.", and saying those words Nandini walked out of the house closing the door, leaving Rishab behind.
As Nandini walked through the empty roads, tears flowed down from her eyes.
How? Why? How did her own brother even raise his hands on her. Her very own Bhai, who had protected her, loved her, cared for her. Since she lost her parents at age 11, he had always been there supporting her.
Then what happened just a little time ago. Was it real...... Or just a nightmare.
Nandini closed her eyes waiting all this to vanish. She wished that the moment she opens her eyes she would be in her room, lying on her bed.
But when she opened her eyes, she found herself standing on a deserted path, alone with a little life inside her, at the middle of the night.
She walked mindlessly through the paths not seeing where she was going. Any person who would see her will think that she was in some trance.
As she warily walked through the empty roads she found that her legs had brought her to Manik's house.
She stood for a long time outside the door debating her actions. Finally she pulled up her hands and rang the bell. She waited.
Nandini saw the lights turning on and heard footsteps and next moment Manik opened the door with sleepy eyes.
The state of Nandini scared the shit out of Manik.
There she was standing like a shadow. Swollen eyes...... Her outfit was dusty and dirty because of the long walk that she had taken, there was a split at the corner of her lips and a hint of dried blood.
"Nandini......", Manik's voice chocked. He never thought he would see his love standing in such a state.
Nandini stood there with her head hung low. Manik gently placed his fingers under her chin and tried to lift up her face but Nandini protested.
"Nandu, please look at me.", Manik pleaded.
Nandini didn't want Manik to see the damage that was done, but some where she felt bound to him. She knew that only Manik had the capability to pull her out of the dark pit that she had fallen in. Only he can heal her.
Nandini slowly lifted up her face and that's when Manik saw her properly. Her eyes were red due to crying, there was a cut at the corner of her lips where Rishab's little finger had touched and her left cheek was swollen and had the imprint of a hand.
"Did Rishab did it?", Manik asked through gritted teeth and he clenched his fists.
Nandini looked down and Manik knew it was him.
"I am going to kill him now," Manik was now furious and he tried to move but Nandini held him and placed her hands on his chest, preventing him from moving forward.
"Manik leave it.....", Nandini said trying to cool him off.
"Leave!!! How dare he touch you. What if something more would have happened. He could have freaking killed you, killed my child too.", Manik shouted at her. His rage no longer in control.
"But he didn't. Manik please I don't want to discuss all this now. I want to rest. I am tired.", Nandini spoke trying to calm the monster.
"How did you reach here?", Manik asked softly his attention being shifted to her health.
"By walking", Nandini replied in a low voice waiting for another volcano to burst and it did.
"Walking? Are you insane? Nandini what pregnant woman walks 2 miles at the middle of the night. Don't you know how to use a damn cell?", Manik was losing it. He may rip out anyone's head at the moment. But his anger and rage vanished as he saw tears trickling down her face as she replied quietly," I am sorry.....".
Manik cursed himself. She was already hurt and he was just adding more pain to that.
He pulled Nandini against his chest engulfing her in his embrace. Nandini sobbed silently letting go of her pain. Soon her sobs turned into restless tears as she emptied her pain against his chest, wetting his shirt.
She felt destroyed, hurt, betrayed.Manik rubbed her back and kissed her hairs. He held her tight in his arms and said," I am there, Nandu. I am always there with you. I love you, Nandini. And I always will.".
Precap:
"Nandini, please get the first aid box from the drawer.", Manik asked Nandini.
Nandini went to the drawer and pulled it open. She took out the First aid box but another small blue velvet box caught her attention. She opened the box to find a diamond platinum ring inside it...........
So here is another update. This one is a little boring, I know. But had nothing much in mind. Whatever.....
So gave the precap. ;-)
