Chapter 45

Mannat was holding her father's hand and hopping through the museum. Though she was just three, she loved these visits and especially with her daddy.

"Daddy dino", she pointed to the huge skeleton of the dinosaur and pulled Manik towards it.

"Pumpkin slow. You may trip and fall.", Manik slowed the pace.

"Daddy I want to sit on its head", Mannat tugged Manik's pants.

Manik picked up his little princess in his arms and said," No baby you can't. Mr Dino would feel bad."

"Whyl?"

"When a smaley fly sits on my baby's head, she gets angry..... Like that only....", Manik explained.

Mannat thought about it while staring at the dino.

"Okay daddy. I won't disturb him. But can I touch his tail.", Mannat asked with pleading eyes.

How can Manik deny it.... He put her down and Mannat went up to Mr. Dino.

Manik followed her and his phone buzzed. It was Nandini. He happily took the call and said,"Hey, honey"

"Maaaannnikkkk?", Nandini shouted from the other end.

"Nandini? What happened? Nandini!?", Manik ran upto Mannat took her in his arms and darted out of the museum.

"Mannnik my water broke. I am having labours", Nandini said panting from the pain.

"Just 2 min, I will be there...... I love you just 2 min", Manik replied hastily.

He settled Mannat inside the car and started driving home.

While driving he called Nyonika," Mom?"

"Yea Manik?", Nyonika replied. She could easily sense the tension in his voice.

"Mom my apartment now. Nandini is in her labours. I am heading home. But I need you to be with Mannat.",Manik briefed her about the situation.

"But the date was due next week.", Nyonika asked while picking up her car keys.

"I don't know. It just happened. I am almost home. Come fast.", And he hung up.

Manik rushed inside and he found Nandini on the couch and Rishab beside her trying to calm her down.

"I called the ambulance.", Rishab looked to Manik.

"Oh god..... Nandini are you okay", Manik leaned towards her but was rewarded by a scream.

Mannat hid herself inside Manik's chest. She was horrified seeing Nandu like this.

Manik immediately rubbed her back and softly said," Baby why don't you go with Mamu and I will take care of Nandu"

Mannat quietly bobbed her head and went to Rishab without any tantrums. Rishab took her away to her room.

Manik turned his attention back to his wife.

"Shhhh Nandu its gonna be fine", and he squeezed her hand.

"Mannikk", she held his hands tightly trying to pass on the pain and tears brimmed in her eyes.

Manik could no longer see her in this state. He got up and picked her up in his arms.

He then carefully headed to the garage as Nandini buried her head inside his chest and clutched his shirt tightly.

"I am here..... Am here. I love you baby......", he kept muttering trying to soothe her pain a little.

"Where are you taking her?", Nyonika asked him as she passed him in the garage.
