“Let’s get a tattoo.” Harry blurts out.

“I’m sorry, are you drunk? You just got one on your left arm less than a week ago.” I recall. Harry shrugs his shoulders and bites his lip. I wasn’t sure about having permanent ink on my skin forever. Sure, you can remove it later on in your life, but you would have to do surgery to get it off. I never thought of having a tattoo until now. It horrifies me to hear that buzzing sound when the sharp object touches your skin.

“Life’s short, Rosie. We can do whatever we want while we’re still young. And it’ll just be a small one.” Life wasn’t short for me. We chose what we get to do with time if we use it wisely. I guess having a small heart on my neck wouldn’t hurt.

I smile and set my cup of tea on the table. “Alright, I’ll do it! Do you think having a tiny heart on the back of my neck will hurt? I can’t handle the process of having a sharp object touching my skin for so long. I’ll just break down and probably have a heart attack while having one.” A mischievous smile spreads on Harry’s lips.

“How about we get matching tattoos? You get the letter H on your neck, and I’ll get R? It might sting a bit since it is your first time, but it’ll be quick and easy!” Harry reassures. He leans in and places a soft kiss on the tip of my nose. What are the chances of Leigh and my parents finding out if my hair will be dangled down all the time? Don’t waste time in life is my motto.

“Alright, but promise you’ll be by my side through this?”

“I’ll always be by your side through everything, Ro.” Harry replies.

My head aches and feels light. Everywhere I shift my head, I see the color white; walls, tile flooring, and even my outfit and arm cast. I was starting to feel as if I was up in a happy place called heaven. That feeling crashed once my eyes fluttered open and I could seek a random curly haired boy kneeling down beside me. My heart had this resembling feeling as if I have known him for eternity, but my mind told me otherwise.

He felt like a stranger to me; the way his jade green eyes darted from the ground and up to my face. My body started to flinch as his raspy deep voice sounded like a morning awakening. Inches away, the strong vanilla odor coming from his white t-shirt made me want to inhale it again and again. His lips were moving, but my ears were plugged until he mentioned a name.

I forcefully gulp down a lump stuck in my throat and cleared my voice. “Who are you? And who is Rosie?” I whispered anxiously. The banging pain in my head started to grow stronger and stronger. I groaned loudly, rubbing my hand against my forehead. The boy exhales a deep breath and ushers out the room to get someone. Meanwhile, my eyes wander around the room observing every object it seeks.

Balloons are attached to chair handles, and red tulips are sunk in a tall glass vase. I glance down and see a white sheer and thin blanket draped over me. I push the covers off my body and glance down. It’s the horrible hospital clothing scent. I noticed a bruise formed on my wrist. I bite my lip, wondering what happened to my wrist. All sorts of thoughts bang in my head and I can’t take it anymore. I lean over the hospital bed and press the red button on the remote to call the nurse.

A girl in a bright baby blue nurse’s outfit walks in with glass of water and two pills. I arch an eyebrow and stare at the pills. “W-What are those for?” I stutter. She slightly grins and carefully passes the glass of water to me. I take a large gulp as if I was dying for thirst.

“I’m sorry I took a long time to get here, Rosie. That boy that visited you told me that your head was aching? These pills are pain killers so the headache will go away in a couple of minutes. How do you feel?” I toss the pain killers in my mouth and drink it down with water.
