"Is it just me or is it this house a little sketchy?" I commented, fidgeting with the buns of the burger as my eyes wandered around the room.

Asher glances at the burger before averting his eyes back on the screen while grimacing. "You're so weird." He stated with disgust.

I glare at him before threatening him. "I will throw this at you." I picked up the top bun with my index finger and thumb, closing it towards his face. One thing I know is that if the mayo touched his hair he would flip. Like a 360 degrees flip. Then turn mad. So I made sure it didn't get too close to his precious hair.

He let out an audible gulp, shifting his laptop and himself away from me before he scoffed.

Maybe I was wrong about him being the immature one... Nah, I'm never wrong. Guess he's just too focused on whatever he's doing on the laptop.

"I mean, the floors creak at every step we take, the doors even make sounds." I spoke, not caring wether he was listening or not.

"What?" A smirk tugged upon his lips as he rubs his hands together. "Is Kavina Aelin scared?" He teased in a ridiculous baby tone.

This dude is such a stupid mofo.

"No." I scoffed, "I'm just warning you, this house might be haunted." I shrugged nonchalantly.

The smirk never leaves his face. "Well, just so you know I'm leaving tomorrow. So the only person you're scaring is you." He flicks my nose and hops off his stool, walking over to another counter to grab a can of soda while leaning against it.

"I cannot lie, I am a fan of horror." No I'm not. "And I would love to meet smiley." Hell no, I do not.

I put on a smile and walk over to the sink, washing off the mayo that's stuck to my fingers. The smell of mayo is not pleasant.

"Is that so?" I glance at him, he looks at me with amusement. I roll my eyes as I turned off the faucet. "Let's watch a movie then." He challenged. "Horror."

When I was small, I got bullied in elementary school, but I never stopped defending myself. When the bully insulted me, I would spit back, double the venom. Which caused the bullying to get worse. Mom and Ash doesn't know this because back then my hair mostly covered my face and none of my clothes showed any skin. You could pretty much call me an emo. Till this day, I still defend myself. And obviously caused more trouble.

My arms fold automatically in front of my chest. A serious look still planted on my face. You will not give in Kavina. I swear if you do...

"Sounds good." My voice quaked. Sh

"Yeah, nice try. Maybe next time." He shuffled towards me and ruffled my hair. "I really need to focus on my work." He coughed walking back to his laptop. "And you." His index finger points towards me. "Stop disturbing me."

I let out a loud scoff, turning out more like a cough. "You. Are. So. Unbelievable." My eyes stare at him like he isn't even real. "But what are you doing anyway." I inched towards him, leaning into the screen.

My eyes catches the name Marcus before his palm meets my face and shoves my head back, turning his laptop, along with himself away from me.

"Marcus?" I furrow my brows, trying to remember a guy named Marcus. "Are you emailing your father?" The words come out with disbelief and shock, maybe a little disgust as well.

Ash hates him, why would he be in contact with him?

He turns rigid and his jaw clenches as his hands turn into fists on the keyboard. He shuts his eyes and blows out a sigh. He obviously still hates the sound of his name, along with the person himself.
