Chapter Eighteen.
I spent a year and three months traveling. I visited the most amazing places and met the most remarkable people. I went to London, to say goodbye to Danial properly, it hurt like hell, but at least I can get on with my life, of course I will always remember him, and love him, he will be a part of my life forever. But now I can say I'm satisfied that I said an official goodbye. I went to Hawaii, Mexico, Thailand, Paris, New Zealand, San Francisco, Vegas, Ibiza, London and New York.
New York was one of the best places I had visited, and it was the last place I visited. I was there in the winter season, and I would be home for Christmas, to be with my family and friends. .
I had landed at the Orlando at 11.37 pm on Christmas Eve, I caught a taxi and prepared my self for the hours drive back to my house.I arrived home and searched for my house key which I had previously thrown into my handbag. Once I found it I crept into the house and up the stairs hoping not to wake my parents.
--------------------
The next morning I awoke to my mother taking dishes from the cupboard, I rolled over and looked at my alarm clock which still sat on my bedside locker. 9.15 AM, I left out a groan as I stretched my arms and legs out wide and stood up from my cosy bed. I went to my bag's, considering I was yet to unpack, and pulled out my netted, long sleeved, mid thigh length, black dress. I tied my hair in a neat ballerina bun and did my make up.
Since I had previously called my parents and told them I wouldn't make it home for Christmas, in hopes that I could come home as a surprise, I had to sneak down the stairs as quietly as possible.Once at the bottom step of the stairs I put my red stilettos on and walked into the kitchen. "Yum, smells good, as always" I spoke as my mother quickly turned. Her eyes lit up, "Leigh" she ran towards me screaming with happiness her arms spread wide. "I thought you said you wouldn't make it home for Christmas? How was your holidays? Did you make many friends?" My mother's fifty questions had me smiling, "Mum! Hush for just one minute" I spoke with a giant smile painted across my face, "There's someone I'd like you to meet" I said as I approached the stairs, dragging someone into the kitchen, "Mum, Dad, this is Nathanial. He's my boyfriend" I said as my tall, dark and handsome new boyfriend, placed his hand around my waist kissing the top of my head. "Oh, sweetie that's amazing. I'm Roseanne, Leigh's mother" my mum spoke as she took Nathanial's hand, shaking it rapidly. My father eyed him up and down, focusing on every square inch of him before speaking, "Where did you meet my daughter?" my Father questioned harshly, "Uh, i-in Central park New york city. S-sir" Nathanial responded almost in fear of my Father, "How long have you been dating her?" my father then inquired, "Four months" Nathanial answered beginning to loosen up. "Are you safe with her-" "DAD!" I shouted, knowing what question he was about to ask next, "That's enough" I said awkwardly.
I walked towards my mother, taking the silverware from the cabinet, and setting it on the table where the table mats were already laid out. "why are there so many plates set out?" I questioned my mother, "Bobby and Niall, will be coming by for dinner, I didn't expect them to make there own, after all they're both men" She said with a giggle. I laughed along also, but deep down I was worried, I mean Niall and I hadn't talked in so long. He didn't even come to say goodbye when I was leaving. God forbid but that could have been the last time anyone would ever see me, I could be dead right now" I quickly stopped over thinking as my mother gave me the wine glasses to place on the table. She severed up dinner as the doorbell aired through the house, "Sweetie go and get that won't you dear." I nodded and made my way to the door. As I opened it I heard Niall speak "Leigh?" he asked confused almost as if I had died and been resurrected. "Hey Niall" I said with a slight awkward smile. He and his father made their inside, "Whoa" I didn't think it was possible for him to grow anymore, but he did. I made my way into the kitchen as my mother introduced Nathanial to Bobby and Niall. Everyone then sat around the table and ate, the room filled with cheer and chatter.
Nathanial then left his seat at the kitchen table, and left the room, I wasn't sure if I should follow or not but I just sat there in confusion. Niall then asked, "Where's he going?" "Uh probably just the bathroom" I lied knowing there was something weird about the way he had gotten up and left so quickly. Just as I was about to get up from my seat at the dinner table, Nathanial walked back into the room, a grin from ear to ear."Leigh could you stand up for just a minute?" He asked, I nodded as I stood up from my seat quickly. "I've only known you for a short time, but you've been the best thing to come into my life since, my Audi which is parked outside. I know it may seem like I'm rushing things but I just don't want to let something as great as you slip away from my life, I guess what I'm trying to ask is....Will you marry me?" My heart stopped beating, the cage of butterflies in my stomach had been unlocked and they fluttered swiftly around and around, all eyes were on me, I opened my mouth and attempted to speak. "Yes, Yes! Oh my god Yes" I shouted in excitement.
Unaware to me Niall's heart had just fallen to the floor and broken into a million pieces, like good Chinaware. His eyes a little darker, his soul a little gloomy, his feelings a little indignant.-------------------------
