Chapter Forty two.

"You're a little quiet, is everything alright?" Niall questioned as he pulled into the parking lot of the reception. "Yeah, I'm fine, its just it has been a complicated day" I replied getting out of the car. "What if Brody hadn't shown up, what if I left her get married to Alfie, knowing he would never truly love her. I'm such a bad friend, I lied to her Niall" I spoke beginning to cry. "Hey, hey. Don't cry. Brody did show up, so there is no point thinking about the 'what if's' and upsetting yourself over them" He spoke as he pulled me in to his chest and kissed the top of my head. "Come on, they are probably wondering what happened to us". Niall said as he let me go and held out his hand. I wiped under my eyes with the tips of my fingers before grabbing his hand and making my way indoors.

We entered a large ballroom which had tables and chairs spread around it, along with buffet tables set along one side of the room.  A band played and a few children playfully danced along to the music on the dance floor. I spotted Kate who had changed out of her wedding dress into a long ice blue, halterneck dress which had a sweetheart neckline. She said a few words to Brody before walking towards Niall and I.

"Hey, uh, can we talk for a minute?" She spoke, I smiled with confusion, unsure of why she would need to ask if we could talk. "Sure?" I replied smiling slightly, "Like alone?" She then requested, looking towards Niall as if to tell him leave. He looked at me questioningly before I gave him a reassuring smile and quickly nodded.

Kate and I made our way outside to bench which overlooked a small pond. "What is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked sweetly. "Today. In the Church." Kate paused and I gave a questioning look. "When the priest asked about objections for the marriage of Alfie and me? I looked around to see if anyone had any objections and you seemed a little uncomfortable with the topic" She stated, and I knew exactly what was coming next. "I want to know why Leigh?" She questioned in a serious tone. "Nina is Alfies first love..  I found out two days ago that he never really got over her, they had been together for years and they only broke up because she had to leave Orlando for awhile. I was going to tell you the truth, that he had fallen in love with Nina again-" "He slept with Nina" Kate spoke suddenly, "What?" I questioned, "The night I went to your place, worried that he was interested in her." She spoke her voice sorrow filled. "Kate I'm so sorry, I should have told you as soon as Niall told me-" "Hey, it doesn't matter at least I know the truth and had the chance to walk away" she spoke with a smile before we gave each other a friendly hug. "Come on, lets go back inside before people think we were abducted ." Kate spoke as she stood up, shortly followed by me.

"Is everything alright?" Niall questioned as Kate walked back over to Brody, "Yeah... Everything is perfect.." I spoke softly before wrapping my arms around he's torso and cuddling into him. "I love you" I reminded Niall, "I love you too" He spoke placing his arms on my waist and bringing his face towards mine before he delicately kissed my lips. "Actually there is something I need to do" He spoke before removing his hands from my waist. "Okay, I'm just going to grab a drink" I spoke in confusion before Niall walked away.

"Could I get a Cola please?" I questioned to waitress as I stood at the bar. She handed the cola to me as a loud screech came from the speakers. The band had seemingly stopped playing leaving the microphone abandoned. I slightly covered my ears before the screech stopped.

"Ah, excuse me a moment" I heard a voice all too familiar speak, I swiftly turned to notice Niall standing on the stage. "I recently wrote this song for a special someone, she's somewhere in the crowd actually.." He spoke as his voice trailed off and he glanced through the crowed searching all the faces. "There she is, right at the bar" He pointed out as a spotlight shone across the room at me, I quickly smiled and my cheeks began to burn. "So yeah, this ones for you Leigh" He smiled before he began to stroke the strings of his guitar.
