Jamie Benson

I walked out of the house quickly, for I wanted this date to be over as quick as possible. The sun was now setting and I had to drive to a restaurant I'd never heard of. I sighed as I started my car.

I soon arrived to the unfamiliar dining place and parked my car. I walked in looking around curiously and bewildered. I didn't know where I was, let alone what this guy looked like. I sighed. I walked to the reception desk and told them my name. The receptionist's eyes widened dramatically as soon as I informed her of my name. I raised an eyebrow quickly as she started at me for a moment or two. She soon escorted me into a private room, where a few tables were. A couple or two were sat in a corner, while a guy sat on his phone in the opposite corner booth. I looked at her as she motioned for me to sit in front of him. I looked back at him and continued to walk until I reached the table. As I sat down smoothly, he continued to stare at his phone. I cleared my throat, but he didn't answer.

After a few more minutes and what I assumed was the millionth time I cleared my throat, he placed his phone adjacent to him, the screen facing upwards. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"I'm Brad, you're Jessica?" He questioned, pausing before my name.

"I'm Jamie," I replied angrily.

"So, Jamie, how are you?" He asked nonchalantly, making it obvious that he was unenthused.

"I'm perfect," I said sarcastically. His phone soon chimed once more and he picked it up. I rolled my eyes and silently snarled. I took in his appearance as he answered the text immediately. He had a crème suit on with designer shoes. His hair was done nicely, teeth straight, and good hygiene. He's a rich boy with Daddy's money.

"So, what do you plan to do in life?" He asked after placing his phone in the same exact position from before he grasped it again. I shrugged informally, hoping he would notice that I too was not interested at all.

"Well, I want to be a business owner," he said, smiling cockily to himself and straightening his suit.

"Like your dad, I'm assuming," I said, narrowing my eyes slightly.

"How'd you know?" He asked bewildered.

"Well, nice hair, good suit, designer shoes, nice watch, and top of the line electronics. Rich boy with Daddy's money. I'm not surprised that you want to follow in his footsteps," I said, still unenthused. He scoffed and shot me a glare.

"Ouch," I whispered sarcastically, holding my heart.

"I also assume that you don't want to be here and your mom set you on this date, just like my aunt. And that you like another girl that your parents don't approve of," I said, taking a sip of my water afterwards. He looked down shyly, and I almost felt bad.

"Well, I never said it was a girl," he muttered.

"Oh. My. God. It all makes since," I said, feeling bad for him now.

"Really? Then explain it please," he replied sassily.

"You're a rich kid with a dad who disagrees with your sexual orientation. So, when you came out to him, he told your mom to set you up on a date with a girl who might change your views on guys and girls," I replied. He sighed.

"I'm sorry I was rude. There's just things going on right now that I don't want to deal with," He said.

"It's okay. I accept you for that, and if you ever need anything, call me, and we can talk," I said reassuringly. We got up, deciding not to eat and he payed for the drinks.

"Well, I still have an hour, so," he said.

"We can go back to my house," I offered nicely. He nodded and we got in our cars.
