Have you ever felt alone
Like you're in this world on your own
Yes, you have family there
And yeah, they tell you that they care
But most don't understand
The real you, your fears
You're hurt, your tears

When the loneliness creeps in
You retreat within
Like a snail in its shell
Your secrets, you won't tell
You build up a wall
You build it up tall

For, if you hide your heart
Then who can tear it apart

After awhile you realise
Being alone is comfortable
It's nice
For who can understand you better than you
This may be a lie
But then what is true

You contemplate the unthinkable
You wonder the face of the unknown
You embrace the weight of your decision
What it means to be alone

Because you had to choose
You realise what you have to loose
No fear
No regret
To pay the price
For fate to roll the dice
Your futures set
No turning back
You abandon all you've ever known
You leave behind your heart and soul
