Listening to Carlisle's advice, I closed my eyes once again but this time I envisioned Emmett in my mind. I visualised his muscles straining as he clenched his fists as well as the navy blue singlet he was wearing. I saw his cropped dark brown hair and hazel eyes - which showed he'd just fed recently - as well as an exact copy of the cheeky grin he always has plastered across his face. I thought about how much I wanted to know what he was thinking.

'Ah man! I can not believe she bet me at arm wrestling! That is so not cool! I'm going to need to find something I can beat her at... No one needs to know this happened. I can't have it affecting my scary reputation at school if it gets out that a girl bet me at arm wrestling... It would be even worse too because the students don't know we're supernatural!'

I couldn't help it, I burst out into laughter. Turning to Emmett, I told him, "Don't worry! I'm sure none of us are going to tell our school friends about what went on today... In this clearing..."

Emmett turned to me, his eyes were unnaturally wide. "Wha... How.. You heard that? Aw man! Why did you have to teach her how to hear the thoughts of others, Carlisle? We're never going to be able to catch a break now!"

Everyone laughed at Emmett as he pouted and huffed dramatically. It was a good way to lighten the tense and sad atmosphere. I have a feeling that was why Emmett was playing on this so much.

"Yeah, you had better watch out now, Emmett! I'll be able to find out your deepest and darkest secrets." I joked, grinning across at him.

'I can't believe this... Shit... What if she's listening to me right this minute!' Emmett thought.

I looked at him from the corner of my eye as he glanced at me quickly with a worried expression. I pasted a superior expression on my face and gave him a slight head nod to show him I was listening.

'Shit... She's everywhere now!' He went on to think.

Satisfied with my abilities in reading Emmett's thoughts, I turned my focus to Esme who I could hear was approaching quickly with Rosalie five kilometres away. She'd be hear within the minute.

I quickly conjured up her face in my mind and was granted instant access to her thoughts. I guess I was strengthening this ability pretty quickly.

'I hope these are enough abilities. Hopefully Carlisle's idea works... I don't know what I will do if it doesn't!' Esme thought.

"Esme is on her way with some ideas for different abilities I could try. She's worrying about whether your idea would work, Carlisle, so I guess we can tell her the good news when she gets here. She'll be thrilled!" I said, turning to Carlisle and watching as his eyes practically popped out of his head.

"You can read Esme's thoughts? From a distance? It's quite a big distance too, especially for only having this ability for the last 20 minutes. It took Edward weeks just to be able to spread his range over such a distance!" Carlisle said. "This is very impressive! And if it's any indication, hopefully you soak up the other abilities at such a rate."

"Ooh do Jasper next!" Alice shrilled, shaking my arm and dragging me over to Jasper.

He gave me half a smile and, 'she really is the most adorable person ever, isn't she?'

I grinned and gave him a quick nod.

'I will forever hold myself as one of the luckiest vampires in the world for finding her.'
