Chapter 18!

Tanya P.O.V:

I followed them until they reached the house and watched as Emmett and Jasper quickly dashed inside leaving the door slightly open in their haste and with their carelessness. I mean, shouldn't they be a bit more wary? Who knows who could be listening in on their 'secret meeting' but for today, I was glad they had left the door open. It gave me a chance to listen in on their meeting.

Bella P.O.V:

 I had just pulled into my driveway and turned the key in the ignition off. I reached across for my handbag which I normally had sitting on the passenger seat and frowned as my hand met with an empty seat. I turned my head to the side and saw that the bag which contained my house keys wasn't where it was supposed to be. I had left my handbag at the Cullen's house! With an inhuman growl I slammed my car into reverse and backed quickly down the driveway and onto the road. The tires squealed as I turned the car sharply and pressed down onto the gas hard to get back to the Cullen's as quick as I could.

Twenty minutes later I was driving up the Cullen's driveway slowly because their driveway was just dirt and gravel and I didn't want my car to get dirty. What can I say? I'm still a girl!

I pulled up near the front door and quickly and quietly got out of my car before walking up to the front door. Upon reaching the door I realized that it was slightly open and I froze. What if Tanya had come back and decided to attack Edward in a fit of rage? Or maybe rogue vampires came to kill them or even vampire hunters. I released the binds I had on my extended hearing so I could hear like a normal vampire could except my hearing was much more advanced and I could hear things two times as far away from me as a normal vampire could. I don't know why I got these powers but I did.

Once the binds were gone, I could hear everything up to around five kilometers away from me in every direction. I heard the Cullen's talking and blocked everything else out so that they were all I could hear... and I have to tell you, I wish I didn't hear what they were saying.

"So why did you call for a family meeting Edward?" I heard Jasper ask.

"Yeah Ed, we were out hunting. I was about to get myself a massive buck," Emmett complained after.

"Pfft, yeah keep dreaming Em... you weren't about to get a buck, more like a possum," Jasper retorted.

"Guys! Can you please talk about this later. We have more important things to discuss," Edward said impatiently, glaring at the two.

"Yeah, about that. Why did you call for a meeting about Bella?" Emmett asked curiously.

"Carlisle wants to know if I have found anything out about her yet. He wants to know if I am any closer to finding out what she really is. He doesn't want me to pretend to like her for longer than I need to. It could end in someone getting hurt, especially with Tanya showing up. Who knows what she could do to Bella because she's my pretend girlfriend. I don't want her hurt," Edward said.

"Are you sure you aren't starting to develop feelings for her, Ed?" Alice asked him. "I mean, you seem really protective of her," She continued.

"Of course I don't have feelings for her!" He burst out in answer, "I'm just pretending to like her for as long as it takes me to find out what she really is. I already told you that! And the only reason I am being so protective of her is because if Tanya gets to her, we may not be able to find out what she is. Tanya could ruin everything. I am making good progress also, she is starting to trust in me more so it shouldn't be too long until she finally tells me what she is," He added defensively.
