Katherine Plumber wasn't one to naturally sing. Well not in front of anyone that is. She truthfully loved singing with all her heart and did it quite frequently when Jack was out selling whether she was home alone or out shopping for the boys. That is as long as no one could hear her.

Katherine stood in her and Jack's bedroom folding clothes as he was out selling papers with the boys. She was silently humming a tune to herself as she folded her dresses and put them away in the drawers and closet before she began twirling around and singing.

There's change comin' once and for all.
You makes the front page,
and man, you is major news.
Tomorrow, they'll see what we are,
and sure as a star,
we ain't come this far to lose!

She spun around and pointed at the mirror

This is the story we needed to write
that's been kept out of sight, but no more!

She swung her arms out dramatically

In a few hours, by dawn's early light,
we'll be ready to fight us a war!
This time we're in it to stay!
Talk about seizin' the day!
Write it in ink or in blood, it's the same either way–

She quickly threw her fist in the air.

they're gonna damn well pay!

See old man Pulitzer snug in his bed,
he don't care if we're dead or alive.

Katherine ran and jumped up on the bed stretching her arms out.

Three satin pillows are under his head
while we's beggin' for bread to survive.

She flopped down back on the pillows.

Joe you can stop countin' sheep;

She flipped forward on her arms.

we gonna sing ya to sleep.
You got your thugs with
their sticks and their slugs yeah!

She jumped off the bed and fist pumped again.

but we got a promise to keep!

Once and for all,
if they don't mind their manners,
we'll bleed 'em!

Once and for all,
we won't carry no banners
that don't spell freedom!
Finally we's raisin' the stakes!

She quickly fist pumped three times.

This time whatever it takes!

She repeated it.

This time the union awakes, once and for all!

She stretched her arms out and lifted her head high.

This is for kids shinin' shoes on the street
with no shoes on their feet everyday.
This is for guys sweatin' blood in the shops while the bosses and cops look away.
I'm seeing kids standin' tall,

She stood raising her head.

glarin' and rarin' to brawl.

She spun around to face the mirror and glared at her reflection.

Armies of guys who are sick of the lies,

She punched in the air twice and stretched her arms out again.

gettin' ready to rise to the call!

Once and for all,
there'll be blood on the wall if they doubt us!
They think they're runnin' this town
but this town would shut down without us!

She punched her hand to the floor on her knee.

Ten thousand kids in the square!
Ten thousand fists in the air!

Joe, you is gonna play fair once and for all!

She stretched her arms back it and lifted her head.

Once and for all... (Once and for all...)

She began spinning around in circles.

once and for all... (once and for all...)

She spun once more.

once and for all... (once and for all!)

She stopped spinning but let her arms continue flopping around.

There's change comin' once and for all!
You're getting too old,

She fist pumped to the beat of her voice.
too weak to keep holdin' on.
A new world is gunnin' for you,
and Joe, we is, too,

She pointed at the mirror.

'til once and for all, you're gone!
Once and for all.

She began spinning again.

Once and for all.

And again.

Once and for all...

And again.

Once and for all!

Katherine finally stopped breathless and looked in the mirror at herself. Her dress was crooked and her hair was a mess and her face was tinted pink from being so out of breath. That was when she saw who was behind her.

"I'se didn't know yous could sing." A voice laughed.

Katherine practically jumped out of her skin to see none other than her boyfriend Jack Kelly standing there leaning against the doorframe smirking.

Katherine practically wanted to sit in the fetal position and die right then and there.

"N-No." She mumbled.

"Theeeen what was dat?" Jack asked mischievously.

"Nothing!" Katherine squeaked.

Jack came forward and wrapped his arms around her before giving her a slight kiss on the neck making her shiver.

"You know, we's could always do a duet sometime." He whispered.

"Ah so you sing now do you?" She asked.

"A little." Jack mumbled winking.

"Maybe I'll take you up on that offer." Katherine whispered.

Jack suddenly scooped Katherine up and set her down on the bed and began tickling her.

"Jaaaaack- stop. . . Seriously!" She giggled.

"Nah, not til ya tell me yous sing!"

"Fine! Fi-ne! I sing I sing!"

She sat up and kissed him quickly but it soon turned soft and passionate.

"I love you." She mumbled.

"I love you." Jack whispered back, "And your voice."
