ALICIA’S POV

I had on the big headphones as I listened to the boys’ voices from the other side of the glass.

I closed my eyes as Niall’s voice came through the headphones. His solo in “Little Things” was so sweet and tender that I almost felt the compassion he was singing. But I knew better. I knew who he really was. I opened my eyes as the boys sang in perfect harmony together.

Liam always had a certain vibrant glow to his voice. His voice could carry you on waves and take you to a faraway land. The song finally ended and I didn’t even notice that it did until Kelly, Paul, and all of the sound board directors were applauding them on a job well done.

The boys walked out of the recording room and joined the rest of us. I just realized that I was the only one not clapping when Kelly put her hand on my shoulder.

“Alicia? What did you think of their performance?”

I looked up at the boys. They looked down on me like they were better than me. I saw Harry lean over and whisper something to Zayn and they both started silently laughing. I narrowed my eyes at them and turned to Kelly, “Well, I don’t think my opinion matters much to these boys. It seems like they have it all figured out.”

I saw Harry clench his teeth and I smirked sarcastically at him. Niall came up closer to me, “Come on, Alicia. We have to get along sometime. We are going to be working together for the next couple of months. You have to tell us. Believe it or not, your opinion matters to the success of this album.”

I was shocked at Niall speaking up. I don’t think he’s ever said more than five sentences to me since our ‘reunion’.

Liam nodded, “Yeah, he’s right. We have to work together for the sake of this album.”

I looked at Liam. I just don’t get what’s in his eyes that makes me want to forgive and forget about everything. I sighed and rolled my eyes.

“Well there are a few things you could work on. I took some notes for the beginning. Niall you need to work on hitting that note spot on. When you come in with Harry. Harry, sing that part.”

He looked at me skeptically before singing. I joined in with him when it came to Niall’s part and hit the correct note that Niall was missing.

“See? You have to get that up there. But other than that there isn’t much to work on.” I told him, giving him a small smile.

“Thanks, Alicia. I’ll work on it.” He told me, flashing a warm smile back at me.

I took a deep breath. “Harry, you did surprisingly well. Just remember, don’t strain yourself. I can hear you pushing at some high notes. Just take a deep breath before and you will be fine.”

He nodded his thanks at me. I continued on to Zayn and Louis, “You guys did a great job . Really I was impressed. Just make sure when you come in at the harmony, you come in on time. You were almost late and going to trail behind. If you trail, you end up missing a note, so be careful.”

Zayn and Louis smiled at me. I think that’s the first time since I came to Hollywood that they actually smiled at me. I moved on to Liam, “There’s nothing I can tell you need to work on right now. Just keep up the good work.”

Liam’s eyes brightened, “Really? Nothing at all?”

I shook my head, “No, not right now. So far, it’s perfect.”

He grinned at me, like I just gave him a million dollars.

I rolled my eyes at him to cover up the blush that was creeping on my cheeks. “Don’t let it go to your head. We don’t need to puff up your already big ego.”
