Aurora stood in line waiting for the plane to disembark. It had been a long drive for her to the airport earlier that day.She had no idea if Ryan was on this flight today or not since she had not received any letters from him since the one saying he was coming. It was getting quite late in the day.
A phone call to the motel had confirmed that he had made the reservations for their rooms though so she knew the 3 days the rooms were booked for.Today was day 1.She hoped she didn't need to wait at the airport all day for Ryan to show.Thankfully only 3 flights were international and this was the second one.As people began to come off the jetway, Aurora held up a sign that said Ryan's name. Her eyes flicked from person to person as she searched for him..She didn't think an army private would be hard to spot.
As the crowd thinned she resigned herself to waiting for the last flight.
"Rory!", a voice called.
Aurora turned back to the jetway.Standing there was a tall man, with brown hair, blue eyes and dressed in army gear.
She walked towards him as he did the same. Both of them taking in each other.Aurora's sign slipping to the ground as she stopped in front of him.
"Rory? Aurora Kensing?", the man asked.
"It's me, Ryan Tenzin."
Aurora broke into a huge grin.
"I know! You look exactly like your picture.Plus, your the only army guy on this plane..", she laughed as she broke off."This plane? How long have you been waiting for me? Didn't you get the telegraph telling you when I would arrive?", Ryan asked.
"No, I don't Ryan.Just a phone call to confirm the dates on my cell..which has bad service at home so I had to call them back.."
"It's fine though, it was only 1 flight I've seen.I knew you would be here because of the reservations".
Ryan smiled and looked relieved. His eyes slid over Rory as she spoke with him.She was shorter then him but the pictures had been dead on.The guys back in his squad too, she was hot.
"Jake wants me to tell you that he's hoping I don't drive you crazy while I'm here and also thanks for the money he won in the bet.", Ryan told her as they turned together towards the luggage area.
"Really? I don't think there's any chance you will drive me crazy but who knows. This town is a lot bigger than I am use to maybe I'll just go crazy anyways.", Aurora's nervousness seem to come out as she talked.
Ryan stopped. He leaned down and twined their fingers together as he smiled gently.
"I know you can do this, Rory.I checked this town out online. We can walk anywhere we want to go or take a taxi. Its a good town with little accident reports."
Aurora smiled and gripped his hand tightly. She pulled gently to encourage Ryan to continue walking.
"I know, I checked too."
They both laughed as Ryan gathered his bag and they turned to the doors."I texted for a taxi while we were coming to the gate," Ryan spoke as he led Aurora to the doors.
A man stood holding a sign with his name beside a taxi.
"Oh, I have the truck, we can go to the hotel in that.I don't mind driving here.Just not at night if I can help it." Aurora interrupted Ryan's progress towards the driver clearly waiting for him.
"Oh, good! Just let me tell him and make sure it was any trouble."Ryan passed her his bag and then approached the driver.
Aurora watched as Ryan spoke, shaking the man's hand and trying to pass him some money. The man instead lean over and hugged Ryan.Aurora's eyes widen as she watch the man wipe tears and wave Ryan off before entering his vehicle, driving off.
