Chapter 6: The Search Continues

They hoped into the car and drove to this ruined shop. There were sale on the window of the store, with date from the 1990s. They were still confused on why Headmaster Zinc would come there. They went to into the shore for the first time, it was style like a normal store, there were many shelves with thing on them, but there was a mess all up and the down alses, and the cash register were covered in spider webs. They went up to one the cash register and dust the spider web off to see this anything still worked. "Wait," Sapphire asked as she lended up from the counter, "Shouldn't be checking place where someone could put someone else?" Sapphire showed another sign a leadership
"Sapphire," Ruby asked, "When did you become such a great leader?'
Sapphire never thought herself as a leader before. The way she thought herself as is one to stay in the background hardly saying anything. "I thought I had this ability to be a leader." She told the rest of the girls.
"I saw someone special when I first meet you Sapphire," Emerald put her hand on Sapphire's shoulder. "Not someone who always hid from people."
"Sapphire," Topaz hugged her, "be the special someone that Emerald meet and leads us, you're the only one who got the brains and abilities to."
"Well, I never said I won't, just as I never thought to be one ever, like I was the shadow that became when the world collaped 100 years ago," She sighed. She walked toward the back of the store.
"Sapphire," the three called out to her," Where are you going?" they ran to catch up with her.
Sapphire wasn't running aways from them on purpose. All she had in mind was saving Headmaster Zinc. She come up to a janitor's closet near the back on the store. She opens the door to see a empty room with a lock pad on the back wall. There was a card on the door with the same handwritting that was on the bottom of the notebook in Headmaster Zinc's office " Guys look!" she say taking the card off the door.
"What is that" Topaz asked
"I think it another clue to find Headmaster Zinc. They might be sending us on a wild gooose chase." Sapphire said
"Well, what does it say?' Emerald asked.
"It say" Sapphire read, "Solve this riddle and punch the number into the lock pad to find your next clue-"
"What the riddle?" Topaz asked.
"She was about to get to that part," Ruby said.
"Can I continue?' Sapphire asked.
"Sure thing Sappphire." Ruby said
"Ok the riddle is," Sapphire continues reading, "If you think of a number, double it, add six, divide it in half, subtract the number you started with."
"No matter what your answer will be 3," Ruby used her logical thinking.
"Right," Sapphire punch three into the number pad. The entire wall slid open there a single small table no chairs with a piece of paper in the middle of the table. The girl slowly walk up to the table on each side of table. Sapphire picks up the paper and reads "If you one to drown in the darkness where would you put your lair?"
Emerald explain, "Drown in darkness means that you went underground to figure what happen to the world lair is the base of operation."
"So it an underground cave?" Topaz asked.
"No Topaz that's - wait no that actually pretty smart" Ruby said.
"Back to the car!" Emerald shouted.
"Wait why, we don't even where to look?" Topaz asked.
"I have an idea," Emerald said.
"Shotgun!" Sapphire quickly yelled.
