Pills don't make you feel better

They say that you are so fortunate.
To have a fragile pill.
To take you to a new place of pure bliss.
But they don't know,
How you truly feel.
How much hurt you have to take.
How many times you have to say you're fine.
And you can't hurt anymore.
So you have to take it
And just bite the bullet
Because of the endless names
And the many bruises
The sayings of sticks and stones
The never ending torture of locking it away
Popping the pills in your mouth
And drinking
Pop, drink, take another
It's a daily dosage of lies
And at the end of the day
You call a name one last time
Until you slash your wrist
Only to fall into purgatory
Because you've done it so many times
Pills don't work honey
It only leaves an aftertaste
The bittersweet sugar that lies on your tongue
And the blue pill of notorious lies
