Chapter four:

{Hayes}

She wouldn't make eye contact with me and it kinda hurt. Did I make her feel uncomfortable? I probably shouldn't have come, because we just started talking and I'm already over her house. Not only that, but I don't know anyone that's here, besides Jessica and Alli. And I don't even know them well.

"Hey Libby," I start and everyone is looking at me. As if I need to say something more. "How's your ankle?"

She squints her eyes, in almost a confused but dazed stare. Did I really make her feel this uncomfortable? Or is it not me? Maybe it's the fact that I asked her this. Maybe she doesn't want to talk about it. Maybe she doesn't want to talk to me.

But then again, I really don't think that's it. She seemed okay with me at school.

"Okay..." she said timidly. "But what're you doing here? If you came for your shoes I can get them for you-"

I stop her from getting up, and finishing her sentence. She probably thinks that is the reason why I came, and it really isn't.

"No no. It's not that, Libby. I just wanted to see how you were holing up, you know?"

"That's sweet of you," She smiles and I'm feeling a slight wave of relief wash over me. Like all the things I worried about coming for, really weren't true. And hopefully they aren't. "But yeah, I'm fine. I've actually been thinking about ditching this icepack and walking a bit. Just to work it out."

And so we all help her up, even though I'm thinking this isn't such a good idea.
Shawn, at least I think that's his name, carried her down the steps, and she walked the rest of the way to the barn.

"You've walked pretty far already. Sit on the bench babe." He told her.

Babe? It never occurred to me that they were more than friends. I know I just met him, but I should watch what I say to Libby. He's a built dude.

"You want to see the animals?" A female voice asks me timidly, and I turn to see Jordan.

We talked a bit in the car ride, and she seems pretty chill. Turns out we have a lot of similar interests, so I could get used to her.

"Sure."

We tell the others where we're heading and she leads me down a cool cobblestone path. Jordan and I make small talk with each other, and it's not long before I hear horse trots, cow moo's, pig squeals, and more. Skylynn would love it here.

"Woah. this is sick," I rant and she giggles. "We have horses at home, but it's nothing like this."

"Yeah, I love coming up here. It's calming. Libby does too, you know, with her being stressed a lot and all," she explains and I nod along. "It's nice."

With practically just meeting Libby, I didn't know she got stressed all the time. But I don't blame her coming out here when she does. I don't have this kind of escape at home because Nash, Will and I aren't home all the time, so I normally toss a football or ride my dirt bike on the track.

But it's different being around animals instead of people. Sort of this peacefulness that just surrounds you. Something I could get used to.

"What kind of animals are all here?"

"A lot," She thinks about this for a moment and scans the barns quickly. "Horses, cows, chickens, bunnies, pigs, goats, llamas, sheep, and some cats. I think that's it."

I chuckle slightly and continue to walk around, checking them out.

{Libby}

"Where's Jordan?" I turn and ask Madi.
