I wiped my face down with a tissue and sat naturally on my bed, reading a magazine and hiding my diary. The footprints became louder as she came up the creaky stairs and along the landing. It was the same girl who I sat next to in tutor time. I never actually got her name. She nocked on my bedroom door and softly said
"Molly, it's me Katie, the girl who you sit next to in tutor time, can I come in? I saw how those girls looked and laughed at you in tutor time, they did the same to me last year!"
I said "yes come in Katie, please!"
She came in and smiled, walked over to the bed and sat next to me, she hugged me and told me everything will be okay and she and I can be friends.
"But, how did you find where I live?" I questioned.
"When I was on the bus home, I saw you enter your home, so I made note. I knew you were upset after what happened in tutor time. So I came by and told my mum I was coming to see my new best friend!" And as she spoke she gave me a friendly smile. I suddenly felt as though I had someone, someone who I could trust, who I could hang out with, who would be my friend. This sent a warm feeling, rippling down my spine. I felt good.

After she left, mum had made my favourite tea; spaghetti bolognase, delicious!! Mum was asking about our first days and after tea I rang dad to tell him all about it. Mum and dad split up about a year ago. He now lives in New Zealand, because of his job, and after splitting up with mum, he took the opportunity.

I went back to my room and scribbled out all that I had wrote about the day and wrote positive things about my new, caring friend Katie!
