The next day, I walk to school feeling confident. I have my new friend Katie and I'm going to make lots more too! I have my purple rucksack on my back and my blue coat, my pink stripy jumper and some black jeans. My hairs in plaits and secured with a green hair elastic. I walk into the big green gates and head towards my tutor room. I can't wait to start talking to Katie and learn more about her. As I open the door at the top of the stairs, a group or year 11 students stand staring at me. I know they are year 11 students because I recognised one of them, they were my 'tour guide' on the day I came to look around the school. What have I done? I walk over to the room and peer in, they haven't gone in yet. But no one from my tutor group is here, just some year 11 boys. I check my watch to see what time it is and I realise the bell should be going any minute, I'm worried because the whole entire tutor isn't here, let alone Katie. I suddenly feel sick... I walk back down the stairs, across the playground and over to the main hall. I wondered if it was assembly morning, it wasn't. So I went back up the stairs and the whole tutor was standing there.
"Where have you been?" Said a snotty, puffy eyed, squinting, blonde girl who seemed highly familiar. I finally realised... It was Katie!
"No one was here so I went to assembly hall thinking it was assembly, but what's happened. Are you ok?" I asked sympathetically.
"Yes, I'm hurt. I got hit by a car walking to the bus stop this morning. It hit my arm and my shoulder. I think I might have broken it." She burst out crying heavily.
I took her to the school office and they called an ambulance which took her for X Ray's at the hospital.
Rinnnnnnnnggggggg!!!
My phone rings loudly. It's Katie, I gave her my number last night.
"How are you?" I bust out
"I broke my arm and collar bone..." She said, "it's badly damaged, I'm going in for surgery this afternoon. I'm sorry, I won't be in school for quite some time. You will have to manage without me."
My stomach was in knots, my chest felt all fluttery and I became worried and breathless.
"Can I come and see you tomorrow? When your in recovery?" I questioned.
"Yes, please do!" She squealed down the phone , almost deafening me.
