-Chapter eight-

As the boys came in from a good hour game, Arial set out a pitcher of lemonade and some brownies. I could smell them all the way up stairs while I was cleaning the boys' rooms. The brownies not the boys! It made everything seem like it was natural. I made all the beds and was collecting the clothes that needed washed while another servant named Kaylee dusted the rooms. All the boys had their own bathrooms so their was a servant cleaning each. And the other two that work inside were sweeping all the rooms upstairs.

I walked downstairs and to the basement door to go do the laundry. It was a walk. I separated the clothes and went upstairs to find out what to do next. Arial saw me come back upstairs and gave me a look. I didn't know why though. She walked into the hallway and met me at the door.

"I don't hear the washer going."

"I came up to ask if it is capable of running while the boys take showers. At home ours wasn't and Ricky had said he wanted to take a shower."

"Oh. Well yes it doesn't effect the quality of water pressure."

"Alright. Them I'll go start it." I made a fake smile because it just seemed like Arial was starting to not like me. I didn't do anything to her so why would she?

It was almost sunset when I was done with all the chores I had to do. Most of them I only had to do so I knew how to do them, but I wouldn't actually have to do them on a daily basis. Arial had decided to go to bed and the shower was open so I took the opportunity. I put on some shorts and a sweat shirt I found in my closet and sat on my bed combing my damp hair. I was watching the sunset and when someone knocked on my door I almost screamed. I walked slowly to it thinking, "What could Arial want me to do now?" I opened it and peeked out. Kian was standing with his back to my door, but as I opened it further he turned around.

He didn't say anything, he just looked at me. "What do you need sir Kian?" I didn't try to make it sound sassy or like I didn't care because the truth was I had to care. And it seemed like for some reason I could be myself around these boys.

"Can we talk?" He asked like it was important, but to a friend not someone who was brought to serve them. I nodded.

"Come I'll make some hot cocoa." I turned off my light, shut my door, and we went down stairs.

I made the hot cocoa as Kian apologized once again for hitting me today. I told him why it didn't really hurt compared to what happened with the military guy the day before Jc bought me. He told me why he thought women should be equal to men and then stories about some of the past servants. They made me laugh and I didn't try to hide it. There was something with these boys that made me feel like I could be myself around them and tell them anything. We talked through two cups of hot cocoa which took us like two hours to finish and then we walked up stairs still giggling about a prank he played on a maid when he was younger. It had gotten him in trouble, but putting a frog in a basket of laundry she was trying to sort was pretty hilarious. It made her jump back three feet hitting a table and making a cup of ice water spill down her back. We got to the top of the stairs and he looked at me still silently laughing and I understood what he couldn't say. I giggled and nodded. I turned and ran quietly to my room.
