Chapter 2
Later...
Skye POV
Riker has jumped at almost every sound today. He's all jumpy and nervous. I can tell because he taps his feet all the time, and he didn't do that on the island. It's like he's completely different now. And I'm worried about him.
Right now he was sitting on the couch in the living room, I think on his phone. I walked up behind him.
"Riker?"
"AHHH!"
His phone flew into the air, and landed on the floor. He looked up at me, and his face turned slightly pink.
"Um... Sorry I scared you..."
Riker sighed, and grabbed my hand. He started trying to pull me over the back of the couch.
"Riker!"
He pulled me over, and I landed on top of him. He pulled me into his arms, and hugged me tight.
"Riker, you've been jumpy all day. What are you afraid of?"
"I don't know..."
"Really, or are you just not telling me?"
He stayed silent, but wouldn't let me pull away from our hug. At least he wasn't completely pushing me away...
"Skye?"
"What?"
"Can you stay with me?"
"What do you mean? I already live at your house."
"I know. But for now just like... sit with me on the couch?"
"Ok...?"
I slid off his lap, landing next to him on the couch. He picked up his phone from the floor, and went back to whatever he was doing.
I noticed Rocky coming towards us.
"Hey, Riker!"
"AHHH!"
There goes his phone again...
Rocky started laughing. Riker looked annoyed and upset.
"Ross, Ryland, Rydel, and I are going to go play some football outside. Do you want to come?"
Riker looked at me, as if asking me what he should do.
"Go play with them," I said, smiling at him.
"Ok..."
"Skye, you can come too if you want. We don't have even teams, so if you play, it'll be perfect."
"Um... I don't really know how to play."
"We'll teach you."
"Ok."
I took Riker's hand, and pulled him off the couch. We followed Rocky outside.
It had rained last night, so the ground was a little squishy and wet still. We'd have to be careful not to slip...
Rocky made the teams. It was Ross, Ryland, and Rydel against me, Rocky, and Riker.
We started playing. I had like no idea what I was doing, but the boys said they'd go easy on me and Rydel. And everything was fine until Rocky told Riker to go long.
It was like everything was in slow motion. Rocky threw the ball across the yard to Riker. He caught it, but slid forward, crashing into a tree. He landed on his back in a mud puddle. We all ran over to him immediately.
