Chapter 7

Weeks later...

Skye POV

Things had gotten a little better with Riker. He had about 1 or 2 panic attacks a week, and only had about 1 nightmare a week. He was turning back into his old self. He joked around a little, and roughhoused with his brothers a little too. He wasn't so jumpy and scared all the time. When I came to his doorway and called his name, he wouldn't jump. Instead, he'd look up and smile at me.

He hadn't had any panic attacks at school. And we were both glad about that. When he had them, they were usually at night, and because of something that happened, like his brothers doing something to him.

But he was definitely getting better. He saw his therapist once a week, and was still taking pills, which he complained about every single night. But he was getting better.

"Riker, come on. You said you'd help me make dinner," his mom yelled from the kitchen.

"Hold on! I'm almost done with this level, and I'm about to beat Rocky!"

I looked over at Riker. He was playing videogames with his brothers.

"Ha! I won!" Riker shouted.

Riker was poking Rocky, who was next to him. Rocky pushed Riker off of him, and he fell on the floor.

"Ow, ow, ow!" Riker said, curling into a ball.

I knelt down beside him.

"What hurts?" I asked.

"My ankle. I hit it on the table!"

"Well go help your mom with dinner. You can go get some ice in the kitchen," I said, offering him my hand.

He took my hand, and intertwined our fingers. We walked into the kitchen. Riker actually sort of limped, but I knew he didn't hurt himself that bad. He just has a low pain tolerance.

He got some ice for his ankle, and sat down at the counter to help his mom with dinner. He was in charge of cutting up vegetables. I helped too.

Later...

Riker POV

After dinner, I went and found Skye in her room with Rydel.

"Skye?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you want to watch a movie with me?"

"Um... Yeah, I need like 10 minutes though."

"Ok..."

I walked back to my room, and pulled up Netflix on my laptop. I picked a scary movie. I used to somewhat enjoy these before everything happened. Whether or not I'd still enjoy them now, would be found out tonight.

Skye came in a little later, wearing her pajamas.

"So, I thought we could watch this," I said, showing her what I picked.

"A scary movie?"

"Is that ok?"

"Well... I don't really like them, and I don't know if it'd be a good idea for you to watch it considering how scared you get sometimes."

"I used to like scary movies before everything."

"But do you still like them?"

"Maybe."

Skye sighed.

"Please?" I asked.

"But I don't like them."
