Emma's POV

I woke up bright and early in the morning. The sun was rising as I smiled in anticipation for the ball later in the evening time. I wandered around the forest searching for food so Killian and I can eat. I saw some berries and took them back to the camping place. I smiled when I looked over at Killian. He is so sweet and kind to me. It's hard for me to imagine him as a ruthless pirate.

I picked up the jacket he let me borrow and placed it over his lifeless body. He softly snored, causing me to laugh. I walked over to the tree log with the satchel in it and picked it up. I opened it and saw a crown. I took it out and admired its beauty. The center was embellished with a green jewel of some sort and had many diamonds around the crown.

I heard a yawn and quickly put the satchel back into the log. His dashing blue eyes fluttered open and he smiled at me. "Good morning, swan. How long have you been up?"

I smiled back and replied, "Since sunrise. I'm an early bird in the morning."

He got up and went over to the food I gathered for us. We ate in an unawkward silence and enjoyed each other's presence. "How long is the kingdom from here?" I asked curiously.

"Not long. Maybe an hour's walk." He said. I smiled and realized that today is my birthday.

"What are you smiling about swan?" He said as he laughed quietly.

"It's kinda my birthday. I'm finally 18. Tonight I was supposed to leave the tower for the first time after mother regained her magic."

"Why at 18 and not earlier?" He asked curiously.

I pondered his question. I never really knew why she had to wait 18 years to get her magic back. "I -uh... I honestly don't know. She never really went into detail about how she gets is back..."

I took a seat and contemplated why mother waited so long to get her magic back. I looked at my hands and noticed that sparks were coming from them again. "Dammit," I whispered under my breathe.

"Calm down Swan. I'm sorry if I triggered something."

"No, you're fine," I said as my breath sped up. I always get scared when I can't control my magic.

"Take my hand, love. Trust me." He said as he reached out for my hand.

I shook my head and clutched my hands together then brought them up to my chest.

"Bloody hell. You need to learn to trust me. You won't hurt me, Emma." He said frustratingly.

I eventually gave in and held out my hand in fear. When his hand touched mine, I freaked out and accidentally flung him back with my magic.

"Oh my god KILLIAN," I said as I ran over to him. He touched the skin behind his ear and blood covered his hand.

"I-is that blood? I am so sorry." I said as I started crying. He got up and stood in front of me. He wiped my tears with his thumb, causing me to smile.

"Someone as beautiful as you shouldn't cry for accidentally hurting a pirate like me." He looked into my eyes, causing me to blush. I pulled the piece of my hair near my face behind my ear and smiled. No Emma, I thought to myself, you will not fall for a man like him. He's just using you to get his satchel back.

He started to lean in, but I backed up. "I-uh... Sorry about that. I-i didn't m-mean to hurt you..." I said nervously.

He broke himself out of his trance and said quietly, "Oh, don't worry about it love. L-let's get going. We have a big day ahead of us."

We started walking to the kingdom. He was silent the whole time. I don't know what's gotten into him. "Are you ok, Killian?" I asked cautiously. He kept on walking without replying to my question. "What the hell Killian! What's gotten into you this morning? Is it because I hurt you?" I said as I pulled out in front of him, stopping him from walking.

"No, of course not. There's just a lot on my mind, that's all. Come on, love, we're almost there." He said as he walked around me, but smiling this time. I smiled back at him and we continued to make our way to the kingdom.
