Mel's POV

It wasn't my fault. I swear. Those words always manage to capture about anyone's attention.

But I was telling the truth. It wasn't my fault! Well......, at least not technically.

I can assure you that it wasn't anywhere in my intentions to be sitting in the Headmasters office with a furious McGonagall, a scowling Rory, or what looked like an dead Jett. (He was unconscious.)

I opened my mouth to possible try to explain or reason with anyone willing to listen. McGonagall gave a look that could kill, which quickly made me close my mouth and look down.

What was I thinking? I could've seriously hurt someone! I glanced guilty over at Jett who was propped up against the wall on the floor, still knocked out.

I wasn't the one who even did that to him. They couldn't drag me down for him. Nope. That was all on Rory.

Maybe I should explain a little.....Or possibly a lot.

It all started this afternoon after classes had let out......

"Hey!" A voice called after me. "Wait up!"

I slowed my pace and turned to see a frantic Jett. "Melody! I need a quick favor." Jett insisted dragging me into an empty classroom as fast as he could.

"I'm going to be late for studying with Jasmine an-" I started before being rudely interrupted.

"It's okay. I've already talked to Jasmine and told her you were going to be a little late." Jett waved it off.

That made my eyebrow raise high. "What do you need?" I questioned.

He scratched the back of his neck. "Well...There's this girl that I may or may not fancy and her twin brother may or may not be a friend of mine and I kind of need your help breaking the news to him?"

I smiled widely at him. "Are you serious? Of course I'll help!"

He grinned in relief. "Cool, thanks Melody."

I waved him off. "It's fine."

"Shall we go?" He offered.

"Sure." I nodded, before following him into my unknown doom.

We ran around the castle looking for his friend. It took about half an hour before we actually found him.

"Rory!" Jett called the boy, waving him over to meet us.

Rory was average height, had light brown locks, deep brown eyes, and was chatting with some friends, looking rather uninterested in the conversation.

The boy gave a slight look of relief to being called out of the boring conversation before running towards the both of us.

"Jett." He nodded in acknowledgment. "And who are you?"

"Mel Mason." I waved.

He glanced me over seeming confused. "Rory Pent. What year are you in?"

"She a first year Ravenclaw." Jett chimed in. "But that's not important. We need to talk to you."

"Alright." Rory accepted.

We all walked to a more private spot were there weren't so many people crowded around. "So, what is it?" Rory questioned.

"Jett fancies your sister." I blurted, not bothering to ease him into it.

Rory looked shocked for a second, as did Jett, but he shook it off. "Mind repeating that?"

"Jett fancies your sister and he wants to let you know that." I stated clearly.
