Mel's POV

"Why can't life be simple. Who even invented homework anyway? Must've been somebody who had a miserable life and wanted to ruin others lives, I'll tell you that!" I ranted to Jasmine who giggled in response.

West rolled his eyes and pushed up his glasses that were sliding down his nose. "You're so dramatic, it's no wonder how you and those dramatic Gryffindor boys get along so well. I don't know why you always complain about them. You're just like them."

I gasped. How dare he say that! Who did he think he was?! I opened my mouth to yell at him for being all sassy with me but I was cut off with an explosion that shook the common room.

"What on earth was that?" Jasmine gasped, holding her hand to her heart in shock.

"I dunno, but I'm about to find out if you'd like to join." I offered, standing up and walking towards the commotion.

The sight literally made my day. Who wouldn't love to see James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter covered in sticky and icky goo?

I laughed so hard that I started crying. James noticed and scowled at my reaction. "You think this is funny?"

"V-Very!" I choked out in between laughs. Before I noticed Remus had snuck up behind me and given me a hug. With goo and all.

"Eww!" I squealed, trying to get away from his grasp. He chuckled and held me tighter. "This is what happens when you laugh at us." He announced loudly, silencing everyone who was laughing at them.

I saw Lily who was standing next to Severus. She grinned mischievously at me and formed a heart symbol with hands and puckered her lips into a kiddy face, mocking me.

I huffed at her and tried to pry Remus' arms from me. I completely failed.

"What is happening here?"  Professor Binns demanded. "Clear the hallways please!"

He walked over to us all and gave us a look. "I'm afraid that I'm going to give you five detention."

My eyes widened. I was not going to get detention for something I didn't do! "Professo-"

"No! Detention tomorrow night for all of you! Now. Get to your dorms and clean up before you miss class."

I glared at the boys responsible for my misfortune. Remus gave a guilty look and dropped his arms from me.

"Sorry love. We didn't mean to get you into trouble." Sirius apologized. "It was only meant to be a joke."

I didn't answer. I just gave them all a hard glare and stormed away. West was right. I was dramatic.

It took me an hour to get the goo out of my hair. I didn't know any spells to fix it but an older girl in Ravenclaw saw the incident and fixed it for me.

Jasmine waited up for me and we both made our way to, this proves that I have the worst luck, Professor Binns' class. He even made a point to tell me that he was going to keep an eye on me.

I scribbled down notes and kept quiet so I didn't get into more trouble than I'm already in. The last thing I needed was to get a note sent to the orphanage about my bad behavior.

I walked to lunch with Lily who I had caught up with after class.

"So, you and Remus, huh?" She giggled. I gave her a flat look. "I'm currently mad at him so I have no clue what you're talking about."
