Yes people, you've heard right.

I am Melody Rosalyn Mason, and I am now officially a second year.

Summer was over and school was back in. It's quite dreadful for most but the thought of going back to school has never been more appealing to me right now.

I was early to the train station this year. Over the summer, I had grown rather fond of wearing my hair in a braid or ponytail. Didn't matter, as long as it was put up somehow.

I got glasses also. Mrs. Jensen took me to get my eyes check after I was unable to read something on a poster and had to ask her to read it for me.

She was kind enough to even pay for them. I wasn't one to accept charity but she insisted and said that I could work off payments by helping out at her shop if I wanted.

That filled up most of my schedule really quick. If I wasn't working or just hanging around the shop, I was at the orphanage doing my chores or hiding away in the woods reading a book.

I got to visit most of my friends. It was a little difficult to fabricate excuses for how I got there, but I managed.

Lily, Alice, and I had a fun sleepover, but Lily's annoying sister Petunia sort of ruined it. Lily only saw the good in her but I didn't bother and threw back insults each time she dared called us freaks. We also got to meet up with Severus, but Alice seemed a little hesitant around him.

James house was fun too. Mr. and Mrs. Potter were still as sweet and hospitable as ever. Just as predicted, Remus, Sirius, and Peter were all there also and we had fun playing Quidditch and joking around.

Jasmine, West, and I had a great weekend together. We went to candy stores, watched movies, and played games. The summer seemed to have flown by in a flash.

Now here I was. Waiting in the station patiently for my friends to show up.

Lily and Severus were the first two of my friends to show up that I saw. "Lily! Sev!" I grinned.

"Mel!" Lily squealed, greeting me with open arms.

"Hello." Severus acknowledged me.

"DON'T WORRY PEOPLE! I AM BACK!" An excited James announced rather loudly.

"Potter is still as arrogant as ever I see. He better not ruin this school year with his stupid pranks." Lily scowled in his direction.

"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all" I teased, all while awesomely quoting Aristotle. Yeah, I did a LOT of reading this summer.

"Don't worry, I'm educating my heart to hate him." Lily grumbled back. "Let's just get on the train."

Severus just did a small nod, agreeing with Lily. We trailed behind her and quickly slipped into an empty compartment.

"This year is going to be so much fun." I smiled.

"I'm actually excited too." Lily admitted. "It'll be nice to see everyone again."
