Tom read for Günther and in the meantime I put Lena in her crib and watched her play with her teddy bear for a few seconds before she let out a yawn and let me cover her with her favorite blanket, she fell asleep rather quickly and when she did I turned to Lily.

My sister was already tucked into bed, she did that on her own but she was facing the ceiling, the only light in the room came from the nightstand and I went to sit next to her on her bed to know what was going on through her mind.

"Hey, you." I said as I pushed a strand of hair away from her face.

"Hey." She said quietly.

"Are you tired?" I wondered and she nodded. She had been playing football with Günther all afternoon. "But you're wide awake!" I pulled the covers up to her chin and she smiled, turning her face to look straight at me.

"Why is Maura your mom but not mine?" She whispered.

I took a deep breath and combed her hair with my hand.

"I thought you knew already." I said and she nodded.

"I am just... I don't understand." She admitted and this time I nodded.

I told her about it, trying my best to remain calmed and not make it look like dad or mom had been wrong to decide to divorce. She was only ten years old, I didn't expect her to fully comprehend how things went down between my parents, so I just told her that our dad was married to my mom first and they had me before they split up and dad met her mom and had her and Jazz. She could understand that, it was a very short explanation that let out all the nasty details and it seemed to give her a sense of ease, she sighed and looked me in the eyes.

"I wish Maura was my mom." She confessed in a whisper. I smiled down at her.

"She is, Lily, she is the one raising you... she loves you... believe me: she is your mom. You can call her mom." Lily pouted.

"No, Ulrike is my mom." She said. "Maura is yours."

I shook my head.

"They both deserve the tittle, for different reasons... but they do." I explained to her. "Besides... we both know she is going crazy without you."

She smiled and giggled as she thought about it.

"Yeah, she must be!" I nodded. "Goodnight, Jo."

"Goodnight, Lily."

I made sure Lily was tucked in and kissed her cheek goodnight before I left the girls' room closing the door behind me.

I couldn't resist myself and tip-toed my way into Günther's room, he was sleeping with a teddy bear lying next to him. He looked just as peaceful as ever, sweet and small. I walked around his rooms, doing the job Tom never really did right: picking up Günther's toys. I put a couple of toy cars on one of the lower shelves on the other side of the room. I smiled as I sat down next to Gün softly pulling the covers a little higher, just enough to have them close to his nose so he could breathe in the scent of the newly washed Winnie the Pooh blanket, he didn't move at all so I leaned down and kissed his forehead as softly as I could before standing up and quietly leaving his room.
