Chapter Fifteen

Peeta's POV-
The night has fallen and by the end of the day, everyone is complaining. I walk behind the careers with fear overtaking every part of my body. At any moment they could end my life with one quick slash of a sword or a throw of a spear, but they do get a lot of sponsors and share there gifts with me, so I don't have to worry about starving to death.

I have fallen behind because of the pain that aches in my feet. "Hey!" I hear Cato scream as we're walking. "Lover boy!" That's my cue.

I walk up to him and stare him in the eye and he looks back into mine. Every time I come close to one of the careers I can feel my body posture stiffen and an awful feeling begins to sprout in my stomach.

"You sure she went this way?" I exhale in relief. I have earned myself another hour of life. I nod. "Yeah I'm sure. That was stuff back there." Cato nods. "You better be." I nod and move along.

As I walk further south I can hear Cato and Glimmer speaking in hushed voices. "Are you sure we shouldn't just kill him now?" She stiffen at the words that just came out of her mouth. Kill me? I haven't found Katniss yet! I need to find her!

"No." I exhale and let all the tense feeling flee my body. "He's our best chance of finding her." I resume my walking. "Hey guys look!" Marvel screams. Everyone looks his way and sees smoke moving upwards. We know what this means. There's a tribute near by. Burning a fire. Why would anyone burn a fire at this hour? When it's the most obvious. "Let's go." Says Cato and wth that we all move on.

We confront the tribute. Her face in a state of panic and shock. Cato takes out a sword with a thick blade and hands it to Glimmer. She takes it and raises it. With one slash and a quick scream, she's dead.

And I'm preying Katniss doesn't suffer this horrible fate.
