Okay, guys. So, once again, happy Valentines Day! -uses noisemaker- So, the picture above is what I originally planned to post for chapter two. Since the guy's making a reappearance, though, I decided to use it for chapter nine. He's kinda creepy when he laughs or smiles, as you can tell. XD

Also, I am using Japanese in my story to help me learn it, because I'm teaching it to myself. I'll leave the translations below.

But anyway, enjoy the chapter, and if you do, please vote, as well as comment to let me know what you think. I like to know what my readers think of my stories, and, whether good or bad, it gives me inspiration. (preferably good, though, but, once again, I know I suck. XD)

Signet follows silently behind Amethyst as she leaps through the trees, noting the sweat forming on the side of her face due to the pain in her ankle. 'How can she possibly do this?' he thinks to himself. 'Her ankle is like that, but she's still pushing on?'

The girl's fists clench as she growls to herself. Signet furrows his brow in confusion. 'Did she find something?'

Amethyst keeps moving forward for the next few minutes, Signet still following, and noticing her anger. Signet jumps to, what seems like, his millionth branch, when suddenly Amethyst stops. Her shoulder-length, creamy brown hair is carried forward by the remaining momentum and then blown back by the wind.

Her fists clench again as she takes in a deep breath. "I know you're there...." she calls out, causing Signet's eyes to widen. 'What?' She turns her head slightly, looking through the corner of her eye in Signet's general direction. "You can't sneak up on me..... You might as well come out....."

'How did she know?' he thinks to himself. 'I made sure to stay downwind, and I'm sure I was careful not to make any noise....'

The boy steps out, confusion apparent on his face. "You won't stop me, Signet." Amethyst states firmly.

"I'm not here to stop you." he replies, holding his hands up in front of him, to which Amethyst's ears perk up and her head tilts questioningly. "I'm here to help you."

".....Why......?" she eventually asks, eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"B-because......" he says, crossing his arms and avoiding her gaze. "Our Masters were together...." He looks down, genuine concern on his face. "If yours is in trouble, then mine is likely to be as well...."

The girl's eyebrows raise, if only for a moment, before she sends the stag a nod of understanding. "Alright....." she says, before turning again. "Just make sure you keep up....."

Signet sends her a nod, and with that they both move on, searching for James and Alexandra.

..........

"I don't understand...." James says to Alex. "How can our scents be gone if we were just there?" He runs a hand down his face. "I mean.....I'm no Shifter or anything........" he sighs. "But.....there's no way that could happen!"
