Carl's POV:

Unbelievable! You get an opportunity to go on a run and they decide to bring this guy, I thought as I saw Noah near us.

Yes another run, it's about time we get up from our asses. Cannot believe dad witnessed Tyreese die due to a dangerous group and he is just now acting.

I pull my gun out from my holster and check to see how much ammo I have. I then cock the gun and slide it back in, keeping close eye on Noah. If I'm gonna fight and find out who's after us, I wanna be prepared without him getting in the way.

It was just me, Noah, and Daryl. Man business. I felt pretty proud too. I'm not often dragged along serious business like this. People always worry of me getting hurt — well not exactly hurt, but afraid of something happening to me. I am the kid in the group after all.

And I finally get the chance to prove myself worthy! My dad decided to bring me. I almost lost track of time while I was hanging out with Lindsey. And then I remembered. It was very shocking too. Like, oh yea, I forgot. That kind of feeling that leaves you speechless.

"It's just you three. I don't want too many people going out at once. That's not a very smart idea." My dad said scratching the back of his head.

"Don't worry dad. We'll make you proud!"

He smiled at me and patted me on the head.

"Right you are Carl."

At this point, so many thoughts were going through my head. I was totally wrong about these people. It's like they were conserving me this whole time, secret agent training or something. All so that it would pay off in important moments like these.

"Now Daryl will explain it all to the both of you."

Daryl grunts.

"Alright well, good luck!" Dad nudges his head signaling the end of his speech.

"Boys."

Daryl's low raspy redneck voice made the hairs at the back of my neck stick up. Either that or I was just that nervous. Probably both.

"So what exactly is it that we're doing Daryl?" Noah said slightly above a whisper.

We were now walking into the woods that are located at the front of the Inn. Slowly shuffling through the leaves and twigs. Daryl's crossbow slapping onto his vest from over his shoulder every time he walked.

"Well I was thinking —"

"I've been wondering the same thing too!" I blurted out. "Are we gonna like camp a while and wait for them to come?"

"Wait —"

"Or, or, we'll ambush them!"

"Carl I —"

"How about we get some ropes to —"

"CARL!" Shouted Daryl.

Silence fell upon us and I stood still. My legs felt like noodles. I thought I had fucked up. That he was gonna say that they were all wrong about me and take me back to the Inn. Where my father would be waiting so disappointingly.

Then Noah would have the last laugh and tell Lindsey all about the embarrassment that fell upon me. She will never talk to me again and that was the end of it. Or maybe I'm being too dramatic and need to suck it up!

"Sorry, I meant, what's the plan?"

"We're not ambushing anybody, we aren't getting ropes, and there will be no camping!"
