Lindsey's POV:
It's been about 30 afternoons since the incident with Carl. He's been acting different ever since the kiss and Noah doesn't bother me anymore. Guess he's come to accept the fact that I want nothing to do with him.
I open the faucet in the bathroom and begin to rinse my hands from all the blood. We're having squirrels for Dinner, caught them myself with Daryl's tracking skills.
I dry my hands out and flinch when the door swings open.
"Did you really think you could get away Lindsey Patcher?" Carl smirked as he lifts up an eyebrow.
I didn't exactly know my status with Carl. We never made it official and to be honest, I don't think he exactly knows what it means to "date".
He was very innocent, humble, so much to learn. It's kind of hard picturing him googly gaggling with any girl.
"Lindsey?" Carl laughs as his cheeky introduction turned into nervous gestures. I hope I didn't make him uncomfortable by not answering.
"No, I just never thought you would be looking for me, Carl Grimes." I say shaking my hands and leaving the bathroom.
Carl follows right behind. I turn around and give him a nice big smile as I pick up my pace. Soon enough we were running around, back and forth, in and out. Laughters escaped our mouths.
"Tag!" He says as he incredibly catched up to me and managed to tap my left shoulder. He sprints right in front of me and before I knew it, I was chasing him. Who would've known that under all that "I'm a bad ass" attitude, there was a little boy.
He was always so serious and all he thought about was surviving. It was like he never got a break from this. But for once, I could see the real him. His smile, his laugh, his little run, everything seemed so right. Like all his worries were washed away.
"Carl wait up," I yell, "you're too fast!"
He comes to a slow stop and I catch up to him breathing heavily and trying to catch my breath.
"I have to go." He says sternly - too sternly.
His eyes were fixed on something I couldn't quite make out and he had no face expression. He hardly blinked and it was very scary to be honest.
"Ok." I said softly
He turns around, nothing else changed but his feet movement and walked away into the distance. I watch him leave until he was completely gone.
I mean a "oh I gotta go" would've been suitable don't you think? But a sudden "I have to go" with such expression just doesn't add up. I know there is something up but I also know I shouldn't dig my nose in his business too much.
Instead I head to look for father to see how he was doing. He wasn't in the room so I open the door that leads to the front of the Inn, just sticking my head out a bit. Noah and Carl were there, so was Daryl and my dad.
They all stood before Rick listening to whatever orders he had to give them. Probably going on another run but... With Carl? That must be a mistake. I've never seen him being run worthy.
Instead of bugging and getting into business that isn't mine, I peek my head back inside and shut the door. I walk down the hall to my room to look after my sleeping sister.
I can hear her sucking on the baby bottle they had given her to fall asleep with. It was completely empty so all she sucked was air.
