Iris strolled out of the school grounds with a big smile plastered on her face. Chemistry had been a blur, considering all Iris could think about was Barry's tussled hair and his mesmerizing eyes staring deep into hers. It were as if every detail of him were etched into her mind.
As she walked, each step that Iris took, felt as if she were walking on a cloud.Although, she finally said something to Barry Allen, she was disappointed in her actions.
Why didn't she introduce herself?
Why didn't she start a conversation?
She was too scared that's why.
She was afraid of what first impression he would have of her. Jeopardize any future chance of them becoming friends. Or even something more.
She finally arrived at her two storey house. She walked up the driveway to the two storey home and as she entered, she was welcomed by its dark interior.
She plopped herself onto the dark leather couch that rested in the heart of the home.
She reached for her phone and was temporarily blinded by its bright screen.
Two missed calls and five messages.
All from Cara.
Her green eyed friend wanted to study in the library after school and Iris had obviously forgotten.
Iris held the phone to her ear and awaited the call to connect.
Cara answered.
"Cara I am so sorry!" Iris exclaimed before her friend could even say hello.
"Where are you?" Cara asked a hint of disappointment hidden in her voice.
Her best friend didn't know about Iris' crush on the nerdy boy and if Cara found out, Iris knew she would judge her for it.
"Um, I just forgot" Iris replied, not able to come up with a decent excuse.
There was a silence.
"Do you want me to still come?" Iris asked.
"No, you don't have to" Cara replied obviously upset about the turn of events.
"I'll be there in 5" Iris reassured her friend.
Hanging up the phone, Iris jumped off of the couch and quickly made her way to the front door.
She sprinted down the long footpath to the library, determined to gain the forgiveness of her best friend.
