Chapter Six: Blushing like a Fool
Daesung's POV
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
"Hi, Daesung." The female interviewer smiles warmly at me and I shift in my seat. I do not want to say anything that will embarrass me or the rest of us.
"Hello," I say softly. I don't like going first. Especially with TOP sitting right next to me. Yah, he's too distracting.
"Daesung, what does the other members call you?"
"Uh, they usually call me by my stage name - Daesung or Dae if they're in a good mood." I laugh nervously at the end. I hate interviews.
The male laughs. "What they call you Daesung when they're angry? Like Jijong saying, 'Where is Daesung? I told him to be here twenty minutes ago!' You run and hide cause you don't want him to be angry?"
I laugh, shaking my head and putting up my hands. Ji looks at me shocked and I pull back shaking my head furiously. I can't stop smiling though.
"Do you like your fans calling you Dae as well?" The girl asks me, I think her name was Kimi..? Something like that...
I word my words very carefully, as not to offend fans. "I don't mind when they call me Dae, but my favorite nickname is Smiling Angel." I realize I'm smiling as I say this and I chuckle again.
She smiles back at me and says, "That's because you smile all the time right?"
As I nod, the man...Chanyuk?...says, "Frankly, it's creepy how much you smile. Like you got into hardcore antidepressants." Everyone in the audience busts out laughing, and I hide my burning face so no one can see me grin.
"Yah!" A deep voice calls out. I feel TOP wrap his arm around my shoulder and I feel electricity shoot through me. "Leave the poor boy alone, he can't help his emotions!" He sticks up for me, not knowing how true his statement is.
"Thank your hyung for sticking up for you!" Chanyuk chides me as everyone settles down.
I turn to look at TOP, his eyes soft for some reason. "Thank you, hyung," I say politely while I blush. He smiles, a rare, beautiful, real smile.
"Moving on," Kimi says, "Dae, have you ever been in a life or death situation?"
"What?" Chanyuk says with a comically confused and scared face.
"Just what I said," she replies.
"What you said makes me think Daesung is standing on a roof with a guy pointing a gun and he can jump and MAYBE die or get shot and REALLY die."
Kimi looked at him, and then says, "Don't say the first thing that pops in your head."
He laughs and starts to blush, clearly embarrassed.
"I mean, have you ever gotten into trouble that could kill you but when it started, you didn't know it'd happen that way?"
I start thinking, I'm usually careful about things. "Ummm" I pause, wanting to find something that was like that but couldn't. "I don't think I've ever --"
I'm cut off by TOP, who looks at me and says, "Yeah you have! Remember that time you tried to go swimming in that lake?"
"OH yeah I do!" I start to laugh and Chanyuk says, "Yahh! Don't leave us hanging! Tell us!"
I shake my head and then say, "Okay, okay. In Europe, I think France, we wanted to go swimming so one day we wandered off and found a lake."
"All of BigBang wondered off?" Kimi asks.
My mouth pops open, "Oh no no no, just me and TOP."
She looks between us, back and forth, and then says, "You two are really close?"
We both nod and I continue on, "Anyway there was a rope and I swung in, not realizing how deep the lake was."
"And...?" Chanyuk prodded.
"I can't swim." Suddenly everyone starts laughing and I yell, "Yah! It's not funny! I almost died!"
Kimi settles down and says, "So how'd you survive?"
"I saved him," TOP says nonchalantly.
Everyone from the audience claps and I decide to take the time to tease TOP. "My hero," I say barely above a whisper in a sickeningly sweet way. He looks down on the taunting smile on my face and smirks in return.
"Yeah, what would you do without me?" he ruffles my hair as I duck my head to hide my blush. Both of our hosts aww. This causes me to snap my head up; I hadn't realized that anyone was listening.
Of course they were listening - we were at an interview.
"There's only one more question I want to ask before we move onto G-Dragon. Have you and TOP always been this close or have you become closer over the years?"
I glance at TOP and he's looking at me curiously. I sadly can't hide the red returning to my cheeks as I smile widely. "Well, um," I try to answer this right as I turn away from TOP. "In the beginning I guess you could say we weren't as close as we are now."
My mind flashes back to the beginning with all the training and people teasing me...but not TOP. He didn't really tease me and I respected him for that. Then, at the beginning, when a mood would hit him no one would really know what to do. But eventually I discovered my chipper mood could break through. I try to explain this in a shortened version.
"Well, I have respected him since we first met and that immediately drew me to interact with him - not that I don't respect the rest of the members." I quickly fix my mistake.
"Anyway, all of us spent a lot of time together training and discovered that like the rest of the world we have our bad days. TOP seemed to have particularly bad days." I phrased my words carefully but the rest of BigBang understood. I had earned myself a light laugh from the others. "In the beginning, we really didn't know how to take bad moods - from any of us, but TOP was near impossible to snap out of his moods."
I smile happily and say softly, "Well, until we discovered that my personality is just what we needed to brighten TOP back up."
I look next to me to see him smiling lightly down at me. I sometimes forget he's taller. "It's like your my medicine." TOP jokes, but there's a warmth to it.
Kimi and Chanyuk both make some comment to my last answer but I don't really think I needed to answer because soon they're moving onto G.
I was too focused on the soft glow in TOP's eyes.
