Chapter 39

Chloe Pov

The meet and greet is over by now, as well as the show, and I still haven't talked with Jacob much. I feel bad because I want to be able to talk with him, but I just don't know how. It's too awkward with what happened this morning and it shouldn't feel that weird, should it? I mean, sex is a big deal, but I'm in a relationship with Jacob, so it shouldn't bother me as much.... right?

I feel really confused and I want to talk about it with him but I don't want Jacob to think I don't want to be in a relationship with him anymore. I decide that I should Skype Shayla because I haven't talked with her for a few days and she'll be able to give me some advice.

I pull up Skype on my computer and call Shayla. After about ten seconds, her face appears on the screen. "Hey! What's up?"

"Hey," I sigh. "I need some advice."

"What's the matter?" she asks, already concerned.

"Well, it's not that anything is necessarily wrong, but nothing is right, either, you know?"

Shayla nods her head. "I understand. I'm guessing it's relationship problems?"

"You know me too well." I giggle. "But yes, it is a relationship thing."

"Tell me what's wrong."

"Okay, so Jacob and I are going really well at the moment but I'm just worried. I feel like I'm not as committed to this as he is and I feel like I don't like him as much as I should. Plus, he's already mentioned sex."

Shayla gasps. "Sex?! Holy shit, that's crazy."

I chuckle. "It was in a bit of a sarcastic way, but still. We're in a relationship, so talking about sex shouldn't be that awkward, right?"

"Well, it sounds to me that Jacob likes to take things fast, and maybe doesn't realize that you wanna go a little slower." Shayla suggests.

"I don't have a problem with taking things fast, I just have a problem that I'm not okay with talking about things like that with him. He's my boyfriend and I should be able to trust him with things like that." I sigh, getting frustrated.

"It's okay," Shayla says, "just take things slow for now. Tell Jacob that's what you want to do and then you can find out if you really like him that way. Just because you aren't ready to talk about sex with him doesn't mean that you don't really like him."

I take what she says into consideration. She's right, maybe I just need to slow down a little. That can't hurt to try. Plus, this is only for one summer, not the rest of my life, so not wanting to get so close so fast might be handy.

"You're right. Thanks for the advice."

"Any time. But remember, you need to tell him so he doesn't try anything." Shayla warns me.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. I got this." I shrug my shoulders.

"Good. I got to go, I'm about to go whale watching." Shayla says. I almost forgot that she was in British Columbia.

"Okay, love you."

"Love you too, bye!" Shayla hangs up and I close my laptop. I take a deep breath to calm down and sit back in bed.

I pull out my phone and text Jacob.

Me: Hey, we need to talk

Jacob: what's wrong??

Me: Come to the hotel room ASAP

Jacob: im on my way

A few minutes later I hear Jacob's room key jingle around the lock on the door and he comes inside. "What's the matter?" he asks immediately.
