Thump, thump, thump, thump.

The sound of footsteps from a room down the dark corridors of my home irritated me.

The crash of something breaking made me wince.

I could hear Severus's soft breathing behind me as we cautiously moved forward, deeper into my home. I cast out my senses, searching for Lacie, when I heard cruel laughter from the room two doors ahead, on my left. I didn't feel her there.

Prepare yourself, I don't really know what he's planning

Prepare yourself, I don't really know what he's planning. I was never able to probe his mind the way that I can others.

I felt Severus nod his head in reply. He was tense, that much was certain, but he was also somehow at ease. I believe that it was his sheer trust in me that kept him this way.

That scared me.

What if I let him down? What if something terrible happened? What if he got hurt?

He seemed to sense my unease, and curled his fingers through mine.

I threw an invisibility spell over us and peeked into the room where my guide was trapped with the most evil man I had ever to encounter.

As I had sensed, Lacie wasn't there. But he was.

"Finally, you've come!" he said, not turning around, "I was beginning to worry you wouldn't show up."

(Yep, I made him William Dafoe)

"Why must we do this?" I asked, "We've been fighting for so long, so many dark years. When will it end?"

"Why?" he shouted, "I asked you the same question when you slaughtered my family!" He lunged at me, not bothering with magick.

I threw up a shield to protect Severus, even though it seemed Blair hadn't yet noticed him.

"My wife! My children! You killed them! They're gone, they're dead, and it's your fault!" His hands glowed with purple magick, vibrating with power. He had his hands wrapped firmly around my wrists.

"I didn't do any of that!" I shouted.

"Oh, still don't remember, or did you block it out?! How about I give you a reminder!" He pressed his forehead to mine, and the memory started playing.

I saw myself, wearing a black, Victorian style dress, looming over a little girl, huddled in her mother's arms. My hands were surrounded by red power, my magick pulsing dark and strong. I watched myself reach out and touch the little girl's hair, almost kindly, before it turned white. I hadn't said anything, just looked at her, and scared her enough for her hair to turn white from fright. I opened my mouth.

"Goodnight, little girl. Sleep sweet, for you shall never wake up."

And she died. She and her mother both at once, were simply no more.

I couldn't say or do anything.

My mind was racing, and yet at the same time, it was blank.

I killed a girl and her mother.

I am a monster.

I'm gonna end it there... shortest chapter ever... sorry...
