Karma(1)I walked on the side of the road, bag strapped against my chest, it was pretty heavy since I had what everyone wanted in this bag.
The Cypher.
People would kill to get this stuff, its the only cure in the world to this strange virus that filled the town of Holbrook, Massachusetts in 2004.
The cars whooshed and drove pass me with every step I took. Cool breezes went across my almost sweaty forehead, it felt nice. It was better than what I Got all day. It Was Pretty hot out and I really didn't like it that much, especially with a bag across my chest.
I could feel the cold pavement on my feet as my open flats thudded the wet ground making me wish I wore better shoes.
I hated that.
My mind landed on my foster mom who was dearly sick, Celo said he was going to take care of her. I hope he was about his word. I just met him a year ago, finding out he was my brother.
"Victoria!" a male voice yelled behind me. I turned around and spotted a man dressed in all black with a hood on. The man was across the street as cars whooshed past him, making it kind of hard to notice him.
I turned around swiftly back to the front of me, I knew who he was. He was after me of course and there was no way I was going to let him catch up.
I wanted to run but my legs said different, I thought just maybe if I picked up my steps and turned a corner sharply I could loose him.
Something told me Run! Run!
My eyes went wide when I saw he was coming at me fast, I turned on my heels and held on to the bag as I ran. I didn't want to slip up and drop it now would I?
Never!
I hit a sharp turn on Harbor St, running into someone's yard. the grass was wet on my feet as my loose flats hit the dirt making my toes feel squishy.
Crap! I have mud in them!
"There she is!" I heard him say to someone, not paying attention I ran into a man.
"Hey!" He yelled and held my arms stopping me.
I looked up at him with sharp eyes. What does he think he's doing?
"Are you okay?" He asked looking straight into my eyes.
"I'm-I'm fine..." I stammered shaking a little bit. I wanted to move away from him but he held my arms tightly.
"Are you okay? Do you need help?" He asked.
"I-I--..." I said frantically.
My voice caught in my throat as I saw the two man coming toward me.
Two? I thought there was one?
The mysterious man disappeared somewhere on the right of him.
I struggled to get out of the man's grasp, but I couldn't he had a pretty strong hold.
I heard a gun shot suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. Reaching down to find the source, my whole body froze as I looked down to my wound. Blood leaked out of me staining my hoodie with a crimson color. I looked up to the stranger in front of me with realization. My knees got weak and I fell to the ground. He still held me, the cool air swept over me as I felt my hoodie coming off of me.
"Oh my god! You've been shot!" His voice faded as my eyes flitted closed.
***
I Woke up on a couch next to a old coffee table with nicely laid out magazines on top scattered neatly behind one another.
