Over there -------> is the very cute and smart Gary!

AIDEN’S POV

I was going to stay. How could I not? He had asked me to stay and there was no way I could deny him anything. Not even if I did end up in more emotional pain than I could bear. Not even if I got my heart broken in the process.

The days seemed to go by in a blur of school, home and thinking of Dom. I hadn’t seen him since that day at the lake. It has been over two months now. During the last couple of weeks I had gone to school and barely paid attention in class. I was barely passing my classes and with the semester ending in less than a month I was in trouble where school was concerned. At home my parents were so wrapped up in planning for their trip that they noticed nothing wrong. That was a good thing because I tended to zone out when anybody was talking to me now. It pissed Gary to no end. At all time I was thinking of Dom. Why was he avoiding me, because he WAS avoiding me, what was he playing at calling me that night so many weeks ago and what were the looks I caught from across the hallways at school? I once thought Dom would drive me insane, now I knew he was driving me insane, maybe I already was insane.

On this particular day I was leaning on my locker waiting for Gary to come so we could leave. It had been a long day at school with Dom constantly in my mind. He had steered clear of me as usual, the only glimpse I got of him today was in the lunch room when I saw him walking out with his friend Jeremy.

I looked down the hallway cursing Gary for taking so long. As I looked down the other way I saw a familiar sheen of golden hair. Dom.

He was reading a book so he wasn’t paying attention to where he was going or who was there. He was about to run into a trash can. Uh oh.

“Dominic! Watch out!” he looked up right before he knocked into the trash can. His head snapped up to see who had called out to him.

“Than-” he stopped mid word when he saw me and realized I was the one who had yelled the warning to him. His eyes, blue crystals, seemed to liquefy as they met mine from the end of the hall. The brief touch of our eyes was the only communication between us. It was only for a second before he turned on his heel and practically ran down the hall and out the school side doors.

WTF?! How long was this going to go on? If we had to be in the same house for two weeks how were we supposed to live? In silence, pretending we didn’t exist to each other? I wouldn’t stand for it. I can’t live like that.

I looked away from the doors Dom had just exited as Gary came up to me.

“Hey man, you ok?” he asked putting a hand on my shoulder. We started walking towards the same doors Dom had gone out of.

“I don’t understand him Gary. Why does he act like this? He tells me to stay then he ignores me. Does he think it doesn’t affect me? That I don’t feel the pain his rejection causes me?”
