OH! PICTURE OF DOM OVER THERE ---------------->
Chapter 1: The Beginning
DOMINIC'S POV
I never expected my life to turn out like this.
I'm 19 years old and sitting on a cold, hard chair, staring at a blank white wall in the waiting room of a hospital. Waiting. And waiting. Waiting for some news that Aiden would be ok. News that I wouldn’t lose the one person who was more important than anything to me…
My life used to be 'the perfect life' the one that everyone seemed to want. I had a mom, a dad and a brother and we loved each other, or so it seemed. My parents, Christians, were very supporting of us... in school, sports and everything else that didn't have to do with our love lives. Those were not up for discussion. My parents had it all figured out, my brother and I were supposed to grow into able men, meet a sweet women, fall in love, marry, have kids, and live the rest of our lives as faithful Christians.
But life is never as you plan it.
At least not for me.
Me? I'm gay.
****
Seven months earlier
"And deliver us from all the evil in this world, Lord. Help us keep away from the murderers, rapists, adulterers and homosexuals in this world. Help us stay away from these sinners, wash us with your Holy hand. Amen."
Everyday I was condemned with these words uttered by my father. Before every family dinner my parents prayed, they were faithful Christians, but they unknowingly shunned me out with every word.
I’m gay. It's as simple as that. I've known since I was eight years old. But with a family like mine I can never tell anyone.
My parents follow the bible to the last period. So, as can be guessed, they are adamantly against homosexuals. Whoopi for me.
To add to my problems my brother Charles, I call him Charlie, is one hundred percent against gays too. Only difference is he's not against it because of religion but rather because he's going along with the rest of the crowd.
So, how I wonder, did I end up in a family like this...being gay? Some mysteries are never solved right?
As dinner went on we kept conversation to a minimum, which was fine with me, the less I talked the less likely to say something stupid.
"Mom, Dad, Dom, I have something I need to share with you all." my brother said. I looked over at him. His shaggy brown hair fell slightly over his eyes, which were a light blue, the same color as mine. Charlie and I were almost identical except that where Charlie had brown hair mine was more on the dirty blond side and I cut it really short. Also I was a few inches taller than him even though he was six years older than me. He was 25 to my 18 almost 19.
"What is it, honey?" my mother asked.
"I've asked McKenzie to marry me. She said yes. We're planning on having the ceremony in Florida on the beach in three months."
I just stared at him. McKenzie was Charlie's online girlfriend; I think they met in person once or twice. He showed me a picture of her once, she was very pretty. But my brother had only known her for about six months; did he really think he was ready to marry her?
"Are you serious?" I asked still staring at him.
"Yeah little brother. We want the wedding to be on Christmas day."
