LUKE
I flipped a page of my Beta's, William Heist, report on my desk. The soft sound of the paper resonated in my lone office. My eyes fell to a hundred words in front of me but not a single one entered my consciousness. Instead, my thoughts were filled by a chocolate haired girl and eyes like the sun.
I groaned and leaned my back against the soft curves of my swivel chair, remembering how Jamie looked at me with rage filling her eyes. I know it wouldn't be easy to get through her but I can't let her live alone anymore. Not when the Luminance pack already knows that I've found my mate.
A very feisty mate.
I looked at the white ceiling and my fingers landed on my lips. Goddess. I can't forget the touch of her lips against mine. It was addicting. No, she was addicting.
But my fingers suddenly landed to my cheeks and I remembered how her slim hand smacked it after my very rash move of stealing a kiss from her. My wolf took over me when she rejected me and it wasn't very appealing.
I lifted my head back to stare at my desk upon remembering something. My hand caught the bottle of sleeping pills that Jace took from her side table and a sudden burst of anger filled my chest because of a spiteful thought.
He hurt my Luna.
If only I have found her earlier, she wouldn't have experienced that horrible fate with that guy and wouldn't look at me with those cold, empty orbs. He should be thankful that he's being kept safe behind those bars, or else, it wouldn't take a blink for me to rip his fucking head off his stinking body.
A growl escaped my lips as I tried to control my wolf from taking over again and burn his prison cell down in the middle of the night. Jamie already hated me and I can't afford her wanting to erase my existence from her life entirely.
For the first time in my life, I was thankful when a set of soft knocks against my wooden door reverberated throughout my office and pulled me back from my sea of rage.
"It's me." I heard Jace's voice from the other end.
It was either him, William or my twin Lorraine would have the guts to step foot in my office. The other members of the pack would always give me a terrified look like I'm some walking threat to them. I can't blame them and they can't blame me for being like this. We were just co-existing creatures in our packhouse. I give them protection and they give me respect in exchange. It's a mutual relationship.
"Come in." I muttered, massaging my temples from the mixed thoughts swirling in my mind. My Third in Command gave me an anxious look as he entered my office which gave me a slight hint of the problem, "What is it?"
Jace grimaced before saying, "It's Luna. She's not eating. Instead, she was throwing tantrums and literally throwing things at me."
I raked my fingers against my hair. Jamie had been through a lot and what I told her was a bombshell. I was supposed to give her ample time to get used to me and woe her but our pack and the Luminance have always had this unending war for territory, killing every members of each pack. It has always been a widespread pool of blood ever since anyone can remember and a lot of us had lost important people in our lives.
There will only be blood at the end of this road.
The moment I entered Jamie's dark room, I was greeted by a few broken vases, pillows on the floor, an untouched meal on top of the coffee table and a beheaded table lamp lying flat on the carpeted floor. She was seated on her bed, her arms lacing around her knees and her brown hair messily draping all around her.
