LUKE

I went inside the conference room, all the elders primly seated around the long glass conference table. As the the most respected figures in our pack, each of them carry their own intense air of pride, held their chin up and their presence untamed. They immediately called for an emergency meeting after they heard that I brought my Luna in the packhouse.

I pulled the hem of my suit jacket before taking the executive chair in the middle of the room. William, given that he's my Beta, stood beside me. I know what they're after and I won't let them take over me that easily.

"Alpha, you know why we wanted to talk to you, right?" George Heather, with a grey tinted circle beard and was seated beside me, asked. He served as the main decision maker of the elders which I don't really approve of and his mere existence is what make things complicated between the others.

"Not unless you enlighten me." I crossed my legs and placed my right elbow in the armrest.

"Very well." George cleared his throat, "It's about Jamie Watson."

"Let me remind you that she's your Luna and I won't let anyone address her otherwise." I said in a thick voice, hoping my threat would get through them.

Despite the dim lighted room, I could vividly see how George's face frowned. True that they might be the elders that our pack has long respected, I have no plans on giving any special treatment to any one as long as I'm the Alpha. Break my rules and I'll heed no mercy.

"As far as I remember, we already have a Luna that the pack members and the elders have agreed." Louis Crosswood, my alpha predecessor, finally opened his mouth.

Murmurs filled the room, all of them agreed to what my Father said. I clenched my hand into a fist, "I'm honoured that you went all the way from your lair to express your thoughts, Alpha Louis. However, you have long passed the duty to me and only I could choose who my Luna is. Jamie is my mate and I won't accept any other Luna aside from her. I've already talked with Cassandra and we had reached an agreement."

"Nonsense!" This time, George stood up, his hands left a loud bang on the table, "We cannot accept a Luna who's a drug addict. Not to mention that she's from that clan. We need a Luna who can support you and Cassandra Beaumont is the best candidate trained for that role!"

Everyone agreed. Demyan, my wolf, growled upon hearing those words and bawled out, "One more word from them and I'll rip them to pieces!"

"Only the Moon Goddess knows how much I want to do that." I said.

I tried to keep my cool but my voice went higher than what I intended, "Do I need to repeat myself?" I stood up which was followed by a soft growl and the room became eerily quiet, "I don't want to hear any more about this. Jamie was left in the orphanage and she doesn't belong to any clan. I won't forgive anyone who would disrespect my mate even if it's an elder." I then glared at George, "This meeting is over."

I left them, annoyance clearly written in their faces, and William trailed behind me. Whether they like it or not, Jamie will become my Luna. She needs time and I will wait for her no matter how long it takes.

Outside in the hallway, a brunette-haired woman dressed in a white hospital gown was talking with Jace in the lobby. They immediately bowed the moment they noticed my presence.

"Alpha, I need to talk to you." Audrey Benedict, our pack doctor said as she walked beside me. She then handed me a brown envelope containing Jamie's previous medical records that she had successfully recovered, "She was overdosed with anti-depressants and anti-histamines."
