LORRAINE
I stared at Jamie who looked flustered, her golden eyes flickered as she heaved deep breaths. She was still on her stripped green pajamas, her brunette locks of hair a bit disheveled. Her small face looked down in embarrassment as our eyes fixed on her. From what I heard from the elders, she was a drug addict, a person who doesn't have the slightest bit of ethical manners. But what I saw in front of me was a frail girl, evidence of sleepless nights formed under her eyes and a victim of fate that laughed for the first time.
My brother woke Doc Abigail up early in the morning just to ask advice on what breakfast diet would be best for Jamie. Luke once told me he could cook but not once did he cook for anyone. Even for me. He learned how to when our Father left him in an isolated island for two months when we were twelve years old. It was too much, I know, but I don't have any power against an Alpha's command.
"Okay, That's it, you three." I pushed the guys towards the door, "Jamie can't finish her breakfast because of you guys."
Luke was about to resist when I stopped him midway and pressed my hand on top of his mouth, "Don't be such a lovesick puppy early in the morning, Luke. Jamie is mine today and you won't get to see her until dinner."
He growled, his protective instinct toward his mate overruled him but I just squinted my eyes into a glare.
"You keep on defying your Alpha, Lorraine." He said through gritted teeth.
I twitched my lips and kissed his cheeks, "You love me anyway. William, take him."
My sweet, poor mate who ended up a Beta to a resolute Alpha, nodded. He tapped Luke's shoulder to escort him towards the door but my twin growled at him. They could be closer than this though. They've been best friends since diapers but William knew his place especially if my twin is on a foul mood. Luke could be stubborn and immature sometimes, what he wants is what he gets, but he's the best Alpha that our pack could ever have. He's strict and cold, yes, but when it comes to his duties, he's all out even if it means that he has to put himself last.
Except for today though.
He doesn't usually skip his duties. But given that he's finally under the same roof with his mate, I understood how he felt. I tend to be possessive too, I know, but Luke's so afraid to lose her again that he doesn't want her out of his sight. It wouldn't even surprise me if he'll frame Jamie and hang her in his office walls.
As soon as the guys closed the door behind them, I turned to Jamie, "Men." I rolled my eyes and walked towards her. Jamie looked like she was in a dilemma, given that it's the first time we met and now we're alone. She's so guarded. I then offered my hand to her, "My name is Lorraine. People call me Rain, Lora," I shrugged, "Whatever you want to call me."
Her natural pink lips lifted to a smile but she stopped it midway, "My name is Jamie..." she introduced and shook my hand, unaware that she had been the talk of the whole packhouse and every soul knew her name.
"You don't have to be so uptight around me. We'll be sisters anyway." I winked at her.
Her cheeks were beet red. I'm glad that Luke also has this effect on her. She grew up like a human so I expected that she wouldn't give a damn about mate bonds but I guess I was just being a bitch, trying to look for loopholes against Jamie. Who could blame me? Cassandra was my best friend ever since we were kids just like how William was to Luke. She was like my soul sister. But I already promised myself that I'd give Jamie the benefit of the doubt and get to know her.
Jamie looked conflicted, her brows furrowed, "About thatー"
"It's okay, Jamie." I stepped forward and gave her a hug which she stiffened, "I knew all about it. But wherever you'll go after this, you will always be a part of Luke and a part of our family."
